Oh no. Very curious about the answers. Is your car often parked in the sun? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Should get inside of windshield tinted clear but with UV and IR blocking. Xpel prime XR Plus to help prevent things like this
Not at all. It is the direct heat from sunlight that causes this. No film is going to prevent this despite manufacturer claims. The only thing a film will do is prevent fading of the color to a negligible degree, but the direct sunlight and heat will still hit the leather and cause the issue. No But think of PPF film. No 100% guarantee against chips. But certainly improves your odds. Same thing here and it a few hundred dollars, so why not? Sunlight is the enemy.
Same thing happened to mine, upholstery shop is taking the dash apart and redoing it.. the leather gets so brittle, there is no "re-stretching" it.
Technology has come a long way. I agree there is not a 100% guarantee from any tint. But ceramic tints are pretty incredible 98% IR HEAT rejection. Even on the clear looking film. I did all my windows including clear on the windshield. They showed me a demo with a hot halogen light. Shined it through glass and it was not on the other side. Shined it through typical dark tint and it was a little cooler but still hot. Shined it the through the Xpel XR plus. Virtually no heat. On a hot day , when I get in my car, it's cool on the inside. I don't work for this company. Just a user of their product and had them install on every window on the 488. Spider. Do NOT put it on the rear window of a hardtop that has a clear view of engine as it will trap heat in the engine compartment. I also installed Stek window protection film on the outside. Here is a video on it. I encourage you to go to a dealer and do the heat transfer demonstration Huper and 3M started this technology years ago but there are issues with those films (I've had them insgalled). Ghosting , signal Interference, letting some heat in. The technology has evolved. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Agreed and throwing in that I did this in my 308 and the difference is noticeable. Without time the A/C was on high all the time to have the cabin comfortable with the roof on. With the tint and the roof on- level 2 a lot quieter on longer desert rides.
