Anyone going to this? Would love to have some company. Last year's show was very nice - a high class event with beautiful surroundings. It was originally going to be in June, but the new date is much better in my opinion for weather and comfort. Sunday Oct 31, 2021 11am - 4pm. https://events.chateauelan.com/event/2nd-annual-cars-of-chateau/
We'll be there. A FB group of exotic "No Garage Queen" is planning a drive to (or from) the show too.
We will be there. The Driving Club at Road Atlanta member group supports the lead up, rally and show day with photo shoots and member cars. Last year we organized a street drive for race and track only cars with police escort. It was well done and widely attended. The grounds and property are beautiful.
I see that spectator admission is $20. If one has a suitable car, how does one enter as a participant?
Registration is here https://www.cemilitarysupportfoundation.org/events.html Well done last year, benefits military veterans directly, band, silent auctions, wine tasting, beautiful grounds, even better car owners. We are returning this year as a sponsor as is FMOA.
Day 1 is for the rally and dinner option. Day 2 is the car show from 11 to 4. Depends on what you sign up for.
To those who are going - which lot were you assigned in the recent email? Mine says "Lot A back/left of winery." Kinda disappointing -- I registered a LONG time ago and was looking forward to being somewhere in front, or at least the lot in the front/right towards the hotel.
I got the same lot assignment. Probably has something to do with the level that we are participating at. There was a higher level covering both Sat and Sun.
I believe you are using the main winery/resort entrance just off I-85 on Hwy 211. They will have volunteers directing you according to your assigned lot. Will be a nice show, and spots have been full for a few weeks. At least Saturday is forecast 0% rain all day! See you there, will be directly in front of winery near the fountain.
Thanks, Trip. At least the weather should be fine, if a bit chilly. I think tomorrow's German car show in Norcross will be something of a washout.
I have since learned that a significant portion of the show this year will be in the back/left lot, so no worries anymore. It's gonna be great.
Good little show. Not well advertised. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Matra Bagheera was entered by Gabriel Thibault, who also brought the Pantera that was beside it. He had planned to bring the Bagheera to Italian Car Day but it had a mechanical issue at the time. I believe I heard him say it was one of only two in the U.S. It won one of the awards, and with that came the spoils of victory! Alan Boe was there with his always-lovely 250 GTE, but he also brought a car that might be rarer: an Austin-Healey 3000 hardtop: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A Mercedes-Benz gullwing is always good to see, especially if it comes with the matching luggage! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another award winner was this great 1934 De Soto Airflow, a car that didn't sell well because it was way ahead of its time! This is one of the few coupes still known to exist. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was parked between a Chrysler Prowler (it was post-Plymouth) and a 599 HGTE. Beyond it was an Impala SS with the 409 engine. (When I saw that I couldn't help but hum the Beach Boys' song!) Opposite us was a 1922 Moon, built in St. Louis. This show had a lot of variety! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This Chevy pickup won an award; I think the Vega alongside deserved an award for just still existing, and in such great condition. The owner said it actually has one of the despised aluminum engines, though this one has been rebuilt and has steel cylinder sleeves. But he admits that there are limits in the car's performance to keep it running correctly! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
