Mate, Japan is an amazing country!! I would love to live there.

I wasn't too keen on going after Wifey suggested it, but we made it there in July 2019 and it was an amazing experience and I am definitely looking forward to going back there again.

Had a patient come through the rooms this week for assessment of COVID pneumonia. 45 year old, previously healthy, now wheelchair bound, on oxygen. His left lung is filled with pus/fluid. Right lung to a lesser extent. Only has about 20% of normal looking lung. Unvaccinated of course. He won’t return to normal lung capacity ever…

I find this reach for unfettered powers over Victorians by Daniel Andrews to be of the deepest concern. Historically, whenever and wherever such powers have been seized by or granted to leaders, only dreadful outcomes have ultimately followed.

I have not yet seen the proposed legislation. But if the following information about this Bill is at all representative of all or even part of its contents, IT”S PASSAGE MUST FAIL.

It may (or may not) be that no evil intent is presently intended by Andrews and his cohort. But be clear that this is not a question of whether there is presently only benevolence and good intention behind its introduction to Parliament. That we should have any such powers in our laws at all is anathema to our democratic way of life, our existence, safety, peace and security. If passed into law, all aspects of our lives are only those permitted to us day by day at the whim of one person - the Premier of the day.

People of all colours of political persuasion must fear this proposition by Andrews. No Premier of Victoria now or in future, whether Liberal, Labor or other, is entitled to have such powers at their hand. Why is the Premier seeking to avoid the future need to consult the peoples’ representatives in Parliament, as is proper? Even in the context of world war it has never before been found to be necessary to bestow such powers. It is neither necessary nor desirable to do so now. Equally, if any such Bill is put forward by a Liberal Premier in future our response must be the same - an emphatic NO!

Any even cursory reading of history, or just a quick roll call today of where global tensions, fears and disasters lie, where people are suffering at the hand of their fellows, or wrongs are perpetrated by those of the governing class, will explain best why this grasp for dictatorial powers makes me feel ill with foreboding.

There should have been only one rule of consistency from the start, the federal govt should have made the rules as this was an international issue.

Having the states make up their own rules for their benefit in getting re-elected (QLD/WA) was just stupid.

It's a national problem requiring a national solution, having 7 different solutions to the same problem was just dumb

 

Jesus, its just not worth the risk not getting the jab. I've heard very little about any ill effects from Pfizer!
