There were TWO "no shows" at my table... And I saw two couples leave, before dinner. I gave them my Rolling Stones poster, with next months Set List.... Good job the the Hiill Country FCA!! Another party for the Record Books... Post up your pics Bob, and if you can see Andrew Fish on Facebook he has loaded videos of the Arno Hydroplane start up!!! Bob I am going to send you a PM.....or Conversation, whatever......
We had a nice time at the FCA Gala. Drink lines ensured everyone paced themselves lol. Our table was full and had travelers from Kansas, Missouri and Arizona!
Just shy of 250 FCA members from 17 states, Legendary Ford vs. Ferrari LeMans rivals Ferrari 250LM and Ford Gt40, the Timossi-Ferrari Arno X1 hydroplane boat featuring a 12 cylinder Ferrari racing engine that holds the world record - for the past 50 years, 3 Challenge cars, a parking lot full of Ferrari's, what's not to like. Add dinner, the Parker Jazz Club band and professional dancers to top off the evening. Forza Magazine Podcast gives a nod to Ferrari of Austin's Thursday evening reveal of the 296GTB and to the Hill Country Chapter Gala. We had 2 tables from the FCA Long Island Chapter at the country club. We thought it was a very well done event with some great cars in the lot. The highlight was starting the boat and the LM. They both sounded amazing. Wish we could have met some fellow Fchatters there.
We can certainly have an FChat table or two. Aside from the LI chapter's tables, we had 2 tables from Atlanta. We just have to remember to organize it and let our chapter person in charge of seating know what we want. Glad y'all had a good time.
I was undercover, in a grey Burberry suit..and Ed Niles' Mille Miglia tie and lapel pin....I do have a Fchat name tag/Ricambi USA cord, but protocol here was to wear your FCA Region tag. You can see me at RH of stage in one of Andrew's dancer pictures!!!! Alan Leach Texas
Ah NOW it makes sense..I was thinking the whole time.. "If all those guys with bolo ties would follow me, back to the Broken Spoke, we could make cowboys out of them all!.... I will say that next time. I hope there IS a "next time".....
Last time we came there were a lot more guys dressed like cowboys lol. Yes we hope there is a next time. How can they let an event that attracted 300k people slip away?
The Tax Rebate matching funds from the State are based upon "major national event".. The Miami race, IMO is a real threat to that, but maybe I think too much.....
It was a fun time Mike, that’s for sure. And I hope there is a next time too. The only thing I wished is that downtown Austin would embrace the race more. It’s been there each year since 2012 (except Covid 2020). Montréal is all about F1. The whole city is F1. Austin is all about football is seems Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
The first 2 years had Austin rolling out the red carpet with street closures, multiple bands, racing simulators and all kinds of entertainment. That all faded away sorry to say...
Yes. I was there in 2013 when they had fanfest. The year after it was reduced to a small area. Then is disappeared. It seems the world embraces the race there but not Austin! It's too bad.
