I plan on reading all your replies to my wife. She has asked me to buy a convertible for years. I never do. Bought the 488 Spider. She loves it but with the top down, she insists on driving it with the windows up. Every picture of this car on Google shows the windows down when the top is down. When I had a bmw and Mercedes convertible before I met her, I always put the windows down. How do I convince her, or what could I say so that she embraces having the windows down when the top is down?! Perhaps post pictures of your wives, girlfriends etc driving around with the top down and windows down? The struggle is real. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Change your wife??? You may need a divorce lawyer recommendation. But yeh windows down. My wife can't even handle an open sunroof, go figure.
I almost always drive my Ferrari with the top and windows down. Wife can wear a baseball hat if she needs to. Works for us.
We usually have her window up and the driver's window down when we're on a drive. I don't like the windows up when the top is down, but I let her choose her window's placement. No reason for argument here.
Happy wife, happy life. Leave the windows up and be glad she's in the passenger seat (or driver's seat) beside you. /thread.
Keep some scrunchies and a hat she likes in the car, and then let her decide. I've owned convertibles of one make or another for nearly 40 years now, and this is a persisting issue. I find that if I keep the scrunchies and the hat in the car, that there's a method to her madness; If we're going someplace where she feels she needs to be "presentable" then she'll leave the window up. I usually am cognizant though, and I'll put the top up for her, as well, when she's concerned about that. But if we're just out for a cruise, or headed someplace with the club, or whatever, she quite enjoys the sun on her face and a breeze in her hair; window's down.
Windows down always..... She ties her hair up, no complaints....she will ride in the car 2-3 times a year
^^^^^^^ This ! When my girl is with me in the car with the top down I always have the windows up and the AC on. I do this out of respect for her , not to have tossed her hair in the wind and or makeup issues. Who gives a s**t anyway wether the windows are up or down. I’m confused. Here is an example and it’s not difficult. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't think there is a wrong or right. Sometimes I like to have the windows down, sometimes up. Just depends on my mood. So I guess my answer is she's not wrong, but I wouldn't say you are wrong either! Cheers
I've decided to buy her a really nice scarf to keep in the car. I think a silk scarf will keep women's hair in place and not smash it like a cap
She is pretty cool. When I hesitate on buying cars, she is the one that says something to get me over the hump. She also is into exhuast note. Encouraged me to change the exhaust on the last 2 cars I owned and always comments on exhausts.
A supportive woman. A rare commodity today. Again, treat her well. Ladies like that are few and far between.
I know a guy. At 24FSH https://rendezvousparis.hermes.com/client/welcome So windows up is like s3x with socks on. You can but you’ll look silly.
But Kirk if you had the windows down your hair would blow around so much it would probably whip her in the face!
From what you say, she has encouraged and supported your choice of a convertible but is now having to get used to the wind factor. Most men have short or no hair and clothes that don't get misshapen by the breeze. They may have wives with different priorities... Depending on the car and the wife, the key is to be understanding. A 488 has much better wind protection in the cabin, windows up, than an E Type, for example, at low speed. So windows up, she is getting what she thinks a convertible should be about: glamour, beautiful car, sun on the face. Meanwhile you are thinking a convertible should be the full wind in the hair experience, after all you have one of the greatest convertibles ever made and why not enjoy it for what it is. The Hermes scarf route is an elegant one. But she will be wearing it for you. Even more elegant is keeping the windows up when she is in the car, as that's what she prefers. And dropping them when you're on a blast by yourself. If you do the former, she may well indulge you by encouraging you to do the latter. Happy wife, happy 488 Spider, happy life.
The Pista Spider is my wife’s. Her car, her windows - she likes them up when the roof’s off. I completely agree with Ricambi
