Currently, I read, BG is producing their max of about 180 Stingrays per day. I heard (speculation?), the Z06 to become 20% of the BG production. So that’s 36 per day … BIG if - no delays. Guess 260 BG working days. Wishful math: 36 x 260 = 9,000 Z06s per year.

At that rate the estimated 2-3 year wait if youre recently on the list sounds more or less right esp considering production wont start for another 6 months..

That’s if those in the long queue for a Z06, execute their planned order. My dealer said to expect at least a 25% cancellation rate for those on the list.

So I am a Chief Supply Chain Officer.

Built by one assembler is not the same as a custom build. It would be automated or assisted with tooling, custom fixtures and presenters. Remember that a automated system selects shims for the finger followers. They will have lots of assists.

Full shifts 12 assemblers on each working 5 days a week can get all they need.

Assuming a 2 hour takt time:

    20 productive hours on full shifts x 12 cells x 5 days x 50 weeks = 30k/year

GM invented this ecosystem. This is not a Ford GT.
Saying all that I am glad I got in the wait list more than a year ago at the largest corvette dealer in the country. I am #256 on the list and am sure it will still be a year wait.

For both good and bad, it is not a Ferrari. But for me, it will be a daily driver and used as a car not an investment.

I think 9k a year for the Z06 isn’t happening. Probably in the 5-7k a year range. We’ll end up with 20k cars total is my guess.

Not saying that that is the plan or that they could build 30k stingrays and 30k Z06 at BG. Just that the LT6 should not be the limit.

Agreed, lets also not lose sight of how things change. the conomy can slow over 3 years, orders can evaporate. In the end once those 10-20K orders are filled for the enthusiastic and faithful, what happens next.

A 2-3 year wait from today seems reasonable cosidering production is still aways of. Once the e-ray and zr1 come out a lot of z06 orders will evaporate.

How long do we think the total order list is, 10k cars 20K? thats 2-3 years.

Mustang Gt430's were also hot hot hot and then by year 3 they were doing deals.

I dont see this a s a production limited car, nor is chev going to sustain 30K C8 sales indefinitely, thats a lot of sportscars of any type and the lightly used market fills in a lot of gaps too. True its a boomer retirement car, but currently there are lots of early retirements, that too will taper in a year or two.

I can tell you from a year of ownership I get more serious questions and compliments about my C8 from 30-40 year olds than I do 60 year olds. A lot of younger people like the C8.

When I bought my C7 I drove it to friend's house and he said "So... when did you retire?". LOL.

The car also gets compliments that its American.

Yuk skip the blue calipers. Get them in black or red. Don't believe me. Ask your wife or gf how blue and red go together.

It's going to vary by region but in LA I see mostly younger people driving C8s. I'm curious to the actual numbers myself but with the C7 I barely saw anybody under 40 driving one. C8 is the opposite in my experience.

The age is going to skew higher simply by the nature of the price of the car. The average transaction price of a Stingray is well above the original $60,000 starting price. Someone surely has the numbers, but I would guess that the average MSRP of Stingrays is probably closer to 75K. Configure a 2LT Z51 with a couple options, and that's about where you're going to end up. That's still a lot of money for the average 30-something. Sure there are some that can swing it, but I'm not sure if it's enough buyers to significantly lower the average owner age in any meaningful way.

I think they absolutely can, but natural aspiration fell victim to the horsepower war. It wouldn't really have been a good look for Ferrari to replace the 458 with an NA V8 making significantly less power than McLaren's turbo offerings. Sad, but it is what it is.

As others have said, I would've loved to see what Ferrari could've achieved had they continued down this road, but they have to meet economy and emissions standards too. The 8,000 Z06s/year that GM will sell (give or take) is a drop in the bucket compared to the MILLIONS of other cars they move, and as a result, they won't affect CAFE numbers in any significant way. Ferrari doesn't have that luxury.

The emotional connection this powertrain will instill in the occupants of this car will be legend. Perhaps the greatest V8 ever dropped into a series production car.

I got around to playing with the visualizer last night, and I appreciate the attention to the interior that GM has given the C8. One thing I wish they would do is allow more contrasting stitching colors to coordinate with more of the exterior colors. They do a good job with seat belt colors, and I wish they would offer the same colors as contrasting stitching patters as that would allow buyers to get a black interior but still have some color to break it up.

Just paid deposit and got “on the list” at large local dealer. I was told the list, which includes Z06 and other future variants, is about 750 long.:oops:

I've never been into splitters and wings, but the Z07 just seems right, and that Red Mist seems amazing in any kind of light.

    I haven't lusted after a Corvette since the C3's when I was a kid! :)

May have to wait post production for the CF wheels. Configurator suggests I have to go full Z07 with the wing to get them and I'm not doing that. I want the CF wheels...MAYBE...the CCBs...but I don't want the CF aero package or the wing.
