I'm struggling big time with my spec. I'm going Z07 package, mostly because I want the carbon wheels. I personally think the car looks better without the aero package, but those wheels are a must. My current C8 is sebring orange. I don't know if I like the amplify orange as it's flat with no flake. I haven't seen it in person. Being that my initial thought was to replicate my current spec and now that's potentially out of play, I don't know. I'm thinking the following:

Ceramic Grey over Red with red calipers (I like this spec but it's relatively similar to my white over black/blue 765)
Red Mist over Black with Red stitching and black calipers (I haven't seen RM in person)
Amplify Orange over Blue with grey or black calipers (Wild spec, could be too much)

What I don't know at this point is how much GM will let owners customize their specs. A PTS type option would be fantastic.

The configurator let me spec Lime Yellow over Blue with Orange calipers and Black wheels! (I forgot there was a stripe choice). Talk about UGLY!:(

If you do that you’ll give up the additional suspension/steering tuning and calibration they do when ordering CF wheels.

also note the purchase price of these wheels outside of specing with the car is likely to be $25k+, in which case I’m quite sure it will be cheaper for you to buy the z07 and cf wheels when specing the car, and getting the special calibration for them. As an example, it was about $9,000 more to go from a base Shelby Gt350 to the R in 2017 when I got my R, and the big price item differences were carbon wheels and carbon wing. The msrp on a single front wheel is still like $6,200 https://www.lethalperformance.com/ford-gt350r-19x11-ebony-black-carbon-fiber-wheel-front.html and the wing is like $12k I think. So it’s $30k+ oem to buy the parts after the fact vs the $9k to upgrade to the R package on the GT350. I’d imagine Chevy is gonna do something similar. That said, there will always be used or aftermarket options, but not sure how much $ you will save and you will give up the steering/suspension tuning.

Some people will drop out. No one is getting a car in a year anyway.

I can't believe such a great car with a world class engine, interior, exterior(except for the tail lights) will cost around 100k +- .

Tail lights if only they could design smth different :(

    Still a great car anyway.

I'm hopeful to have the car by end October 2022. Presuming no major delays in production.

Yes I do. I think we will know more in the spring when GM releases the actual allocations and takes hard orders.

Mike does not like to "over promise".

IMO, there are some out there who are speculating and putting refundable deposits at several dealers seeing which one comes up first. Other people after a year will give up and move on. Some will just not want it anymore. And GM hasn't even released the price yet. Some may drop out just from that.

Plus no dealer knows how many cars they are getting. Pre-orders to GM helps GM figure out how many to make vs Stingrays. Then they give out the allocations in the spring for the first orders made mid to late summer.

This is my thinking as well. My guess is GM is going to want to crank these things out. Its a money maker for them and they spent a ton to get the C8 and Z06 into production

No. Mike is a pretty straight guy. He puts people in the order they placed an order. I've bought 2 cars from him and I don't expect anything special in return. But he's non-nonsense and I rather like that in a salesperson.

GM for sure gives some to "influencers" early. And like all dealers I'm sure they have a VIP list who get them early.

I saw Mike at the Z06 debut. I introduced myself and he knew who I was right away. Given he's sold 5000+ Corvettes I was surprised.

That would be nice, but no.

Edit: My dealership has a legal pad with a list of people that have put down a thousand dollar deposit.

Who's to say they don't manipulate the order in which those deposits came in?

    I'm 27 on the list...I think.

I mean, you have a lot of smaller dealers telling people if they order a Stingray they are looking at more than a year, maybe 2. Z06 MAY go into production in July or August. That's 9 months from now. So if someone walks into a dealer today they have no idea how long it will realistically take to get one.

Guys, if you’re 15+ on a list somewhere, I don’t care where, you probably aren’t getting a car. My dealer told me they’ll be shocked if they get 2. TWO! They said the top dealers in the area (multi state area) will get 15-20 over 3-4 years.

This would make sense to me if we were talking about a $150k plus ZR1, but historically haven't the ZO6 cars been much more abundant?

Seems to me if supply were to be that scarce, the ZO6 price would be much, much higher than what rumors suggest.

The 3 biggest dealers already have over 1000 deposits each.

I think they will make 20k a year. Ramp up should be faster than the Stingray.

The Supercharged Corvette Z06 debuted in 2015 and a total of 39,940 Z06s were built in the five-year run.
That is 7,988 Z06's built per year on average with 2016 being the peak year for Z06 production with 14,275 leaving the factory.
I expect the new Z06 will be built in larger numbers as the demand is much bigger for the mid engine version and as Bob said earlier: GM is going to want to crank these things out. Its a money maker for them.

I think there will be less than you are predicting. Our supply chain issues are going to persist for years. They simply won’t be able to.

You can get the carbon wheels with either base z06 or z07. The z07 has the carbon brakes and the high aero. You can order the high aero on the base z06, Hi wings splitter and underbody can be ordered on base car can be in visible carbon or flash carbon.
Thats according to the configurator, Doug Demuro and MT. Course that coudl all chage.

But it looks like yiu can get all the relevant performce aero goodies on the base car, or order a base car just witg rgw xf wheels and regular aero etc.

z06 seems to be an option that has the carbon brakes and high aero all bundles togther, plus some alleged spec changes in terms of springs.

From my understanding, no you cannot get the CF wheels without the Z07 package.
