I need some advice on whether I should use a battery tender or just pull the battery for my 87 Testarossa for this winter. I have an unheated unpowered garage. So if I used a battery tender I would need to run an extension cord. I dont plan on driving it terribly often. But maybe occasionally. I live in Illinois and sometimes we have nice days in the winter. Im honestly not sure what to do, so I wanted to hear from the Testarossa community.

My 512TR has been on a high quality (c-tek) tender for years. Works fine, even for months.

Both. If you have a warm basement, pull it and put the tender on it. Batteries don't like cold or concrete floors. If placed on floor, put a piece of wood under it. I normally place a battery on a work bench in a warmer climate and add the tender. No problems so far. Good for lawn mower batteries also.

I use this for outdoor storage - trailer battery etc. Had one on my truck’s dash plugged in via a cig lighter while it was stored outdoors for a couple of years. Run your wire under the garage door. I just use a 4watt unit…. plenty if the battery is switched off.

Not as good as CTEK. Consider running a CTEK off a solar generator (Bluetti etc).

Also consider putting it into a bus tray and bringing it in the house.

Thanks for all the info about the battery tenders...as a side question...how well do your testarossas run in the winter? In the cold, not the snow?

If you know how to tweak the metering units, they can run very well.
