Flavio Manzoni describes the Tensostruttura as one of the most remarkable models in the design development of the LaFerrari project.
But they had to give it up because some things were not feasible that way. Now look for example at the front fenders...
are they feasible now and easy to manufacture?

Though it looks good on that model, I’m not a fan of the Tensostruttura—a concept based on the design of a tent—for a car. And, in fact, on the LaF it results in the car looking particularly unflattering from some angles and very bulky and not sinewy at all around the rear quarters.

The rear view—though not really affected by the Tensostruttura philosophy—is just bad.

Carbon monocoque of LaFerrari Aperta, engine of the 812 Competizione without hybrid, and according to rumors a 8 Speeds DCT.

Wonder if the Icona2 P4 will be considerably lighter than the LaFerrari without the kers, 2 electric motors, wiring, batteries and extra cooling. Any guesses? I believe the LaFerrari weighs almost 3500lbs. What will the Icona P4 weigh?

I did a post about this a few weeks back and I was saying without the electrics, Kerb weight should be between 1250 - 1350kgs As the La Ferrari is over 1500kgs

That's a good question and I think the answer will be yes. It seems to me that a speculation of more or less 1350kg is reasonable.

There is really not long to wait (VIP presentation is scheduled for tomorrow) maybe "Leaks" will tell us more.

    1350-1400kgs is a safe bet.

Is 1255 KG the official LaF's dry weight provided by Ferrari? If so, I guess they will quote a dry weight of about 1100 KG / 2425 lbs for this Icona. Its real life kerb weight? Maybe around 1450 KG / 3000 lbs.

1450kg is 3190lbs, (about the weight of the Enzo) which would mean about a 300lb reduction to the LaFerrari. I think the motors, batteries, kers, wiring and extra cooling could weigh at least 300lbs maybe more? That’s a 10% weight reduction which should make a major difference in the handling. Let’s see whether the difference in aero will be a positive or negative. I personally am very excited about having a lighter mid-engine 12 cylinder with over 800 naturally aspirated ponies.

    You're correct, my mistake.

IIRC, the whole electric package of the LaF should weigh ~ 150 KG / 330 lbs, but I'm not 100% sure about it.

Ferrari never gave any weight figure for LaFerrari. As far as I recall it went something like this: Ferrari mentioned that LaFerrari target dry weight was that of Enzo excluding the hybrid system. As Ferrari gave no actual weight figure, some idiot shared dry weight of Enzo to all medias and the rest is history.

Ferrari missed the target by around 100 kg and the hybrid system adds about 150 kg.

For new Icona, I suppose dry weight is at least 1350 kg.

Guess that's the reason why I couldn't find any figure on Ferrari's website nor in the official press release. Thanks for clarifying.

Anyway, let's hope some FChat members get to know more about this new Icona tomorrow and share some details here.

Actually after checking some forum posts, it seems Ferrari missed the target weight only by 50 kg. With the 150 kg hybrid system onboard La Ferrari is about 200 kg heavier than Enzo. So LaFerrari dry weight is around 1450 kg. If this about right, the new Icona could have dry weight of 1300 kg. Then again, its Aperta, so more likely 1350 kg then.

Lets hope Ferrari has courage to give us the weight figure this time. There shouldn't be any reason to hide it anymore.

Hoping for some leaks or impressions of the car. Strange that Ferrari hasn’t started to tease the reveal for the public, although it didn’t do that for the Monza either.
