I understand, your attitude is quite respectable and commendable, I understand, moreover I did the same thing as you, I had made a proposal to a person who was selling a 355 equipped with an automatic gearbox and these famous seats, history of compensating a little for its sale, here the automatic ones cost less than the manual ones, I wanted to buy him back his sport seats, he did not want, too bad because he cannot sell it .. Surely by lowering the price of the car and selling me his seats, he would have made more money ...

Then you understand how difficult it is to convince someone to part ways with his sport seats :). If the car was a manual, there was no way the seller would've sold me the seats. He also wouldn't have sold me the seats if he could not find an immediate suitable replacement. The stars had to align on this one. If the stars align, you must take action.

How much did you offer the guy? I'll tell you if you wasted his time or not.

8000 euros was for me my best price... So bad..

One month ago, on Facebook 355 passion, someone sold them, 4000 euros but i thought it was a joke, i was interested, i talked with him but all was strange, Est Europe... Western union...

The guy you offered 8000 euros to ($9k USD), what year was his car? I can tell you from my personal experience that's not enough. If you look back at this thread, one sold in the U.S for about that much in 2015. The last one I saw for sale sold in Japan for $13k. You have to understand, he needs to go find standard seats to match his car. Those are going to be $4-5k in good condition. $9k ($4k profit) is not enough for the hassle and subsequent devaluation of the car.

The guy on Facebook in Latvia you are referring to is a straight up scam. I spoke to him as well. Probably before you did. I'm everywhere :). I grilled him to the point he gave up, said the seats ended up selling locally and deleted his post within hours. I still have the FB messenger conversation. He said his car is a 95. But the seats and car he sent me pics is anything but a 95.

$20k for these seats isn't even that crazy when you consider this is a Ferrari. There's numerous Porsche seats from that era trading for above that and I believe they were produced in much larger numbers even.

The price might sound crazy, but the fact of the matter is, once you start going on the hunt for these and stay laser focused until mission accomplished and you're expecting to pay less than $10k, you're gonna be the one going crazy :).

This car has been for sale for a very long time. Originally by its owner...now at a dealership.

It's an FHP car with Carbon Seats. Final year car, about 47,500mi equivalent, some horrible wheel treatment (hopefully not paint, but looks like it). Besides that it looks to be a very well taken care of car. Just needs a manual swap if that's what you want...and of course refinish/replace the wheels.

Actually, to my discerning eye, they look like larger seats than mine.

    OPTIONAL (CARROZZERIA SCAGLIETTI):
    -Racing-Sportsitze in Grösse L
    -Handling-Paket "Fiorano"
    -Kofferset

How are they determining size of seats unless they have the original window sticker? And what's up with the fattened steering wheel? Is this a thing in Europe or was than an OE option. Looks exactly like Reza's steering wheel.

There was a "thickened" steering wheel for sale in the classifieds here not too long ago. Kind of wish I bought it but it sold before I came to that conclusion.

So what’s the official story with the steering wheel?

Sorry I should've clarified. It was just re-wrapped on top of the original leather to give it a thicker feel.

I’m about to use this method!! I’ve been just searching for pair of loose carbon seats to end up talking to scams(thankfully no money sent). Never thought of buying it off of the car tho, I’ll even fly to another country to get them. $20k is damn bargain!!!

Little question, from the VIN number, can we know the vehicle options when it comes out like a Porsche? Namely, whether or not the vehicle was originally equipped with these sports seats? Yes I come back to my proposal, the transaction at 8000 euros also took into account that I gave him in addition to the 8000 euros my simple seats.

I doubt VIN discloses seats as they are simply options.

Ok. 8000 euros + your seats is more reasonable. As long as your seats matched his car and was in good enough condition. Time to up the anty :).

Best thing to do is hunt for these dealers selling F1 cars for cheap as they don’t have an attachment to the car or might not know the seats worth. Make them an offer they can’t refuse, but you have to be ready to source standard seats for them.
