Perhaps I missed it but I don’t think Mr Massini suggested the car looks retro. Of course anything can be considered a retro cue, so what do I know. The car is incredible and it is not retro. Very different to the equally wonderful SP1/2 For what it is worth I think the Countach is hideous Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Are these names premade or do the private owners come up with it on the spot, seems like it would be a very big time crunch from now until finali mondialli
Perhaps the name is already chosen but they want to have a bit of fun with the potential owners. If nobody matches 'their' name for the Icona2 they may get could feet. It must be said that Ferrari actively listen to feedback from some clients and things can go in a different direction as a result of that feedback. The original 599XX program was all about involving the owners more directly in possible choices.
A close friend, who is very knowledgeable and a long time Ferrari influencer saw the new Icona today and told me it looks absolutely fantastic, without a doubt the greatest Ferrari road car ever produced. As previously predicted it resembles the P3/4, is a naturally aspirated V12 and is a big step forward looks-wise over the Ferrari Aperta, the monocoque it rides on. It has removable carbon roof panels and doors that open like the Aperta. Apparently a lot of work was done to optimize the engine positioning now that the Kers, electric motor and batteries are absent. Very excited, can’t wait, would have flown over for the private unveiling but its my daughter’s engagement party this weekend.
Once again. Word salad. This is the third time I've mentioned I didn't say "retro." There's a difference between "retro" and "retro styling." Is the Countach retro or retro styling? It's a simple question.
Sorry no other information except the color of the car and its interior which he was asked not to post in order to not ruin the public unveiling which I will respect. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
So if you’re on the list and order, have they said when the cars will start arriving in the USA ? MDS
I think the icona 2's name might have an homage to any Le Mans/endurance racing related event in Ferrari's history since we will be seeing them in 2023 for WEC.
I was told sometime in 2023, pretty vague at this point, sort of like when we were confirmed for the first Icona. So happy I didn't listen to the doubters about not buying the Monza because it was not road legal in the US. I always thought it would be eligible for show and display if they kept the number under 500 units. I'd be kicking myself if I couldn't get this mid-engine V12 because I passed on the Monza.
Really like the name "Le Mans" so many epic 60's and 70's Ferrari's were built for that race. I know it's not an Italian track but there's no endurance race with a history that's its equal. Wonder if GM still owns the name?
I doubt most of the potential customers that will be ordering one care about manual, I know a few that are getting one are into bling bling options and want the latest and greatest tech. If autonomous driving technology option was there, they will add it without hesitation, it will help them produce more videos on social media (Fact). My dealer told me it will be an auto, no manual.
Well I’m sitting here in Florence at the St Regis for Finali Mondiali and the every time I walk through the lobby I run into a friend who has seen the new Icona. All love it. No detractors. None. No criticism at all. bad news is I won’t see it for another day but I have learned all sorts of tidbits and facts about it. It sounds incredible and let’s hope that in about 48 hours plus images will come forth from the debut at Mugello to the Challenge drivers.
The Icona is neither retro nor retro styling in my opinion The Countach is bereft of styling. It’s a simple answer Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Most of the product literature is digital so it’s very easy to interchange, there is probably a shortlist from which the most marketable name will be chosen in time for public viewing. Should in theory an on the spot suggestion be considered, how they would trademark a name and logo from preview so quickly is probably not viable. Ferrari are not known for joking around with their IP.
Now that I've seen some more pics I can confirm it won't be a barchetta, but it will have removable panels, just like the LaFerrari Aperta Sorry for my mistake.
