How did the fluid look that came out?? Any idea how old it was?
the fluid was 2 years old didn't look that bad but it was bad you have to be careful since the fluid can really ruin a ABS unit I have talked to local techs and they see what I experienced all the time, blockage in the brake system I used a WURTH Brake Fluid tester too check for water saturation in the brake fluid and even though the tester said it was below 2% there was major blockage in all 4 of the outer caliper halves
Well I am leaving for NJ and NH tomorrow in the 575. Ops checked the car and its Code 1 no discrepancies looking forward to the run I should put around 3k on the car on this trip
The local denizens welcome another Ferrari to the great northlands. It's getting chill up here in NH, Clyde. Frost in the mornings.....
Thanks, i still trying to figure out the logic behind the F1 shifting system,,, i suppose its controlled by one of the ECU's i only have about 1000 miles of local driving with the F1, most of the time , i enjoy it, sometimes it doesn't make a lot of sense ,, i always lave it in sport mode
Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Well I am back from the trip started with 52433 ended up with 55067 got some combat damage enroute as well! other wise it was a great run in the 575
well I leave for the Big Easy for Thanksgiving with the Grandkids didn't wash the car just cleaned the windshield and headlights starting mileage is 55k plus these cars were made to run can't see why anyone would buy this type of car and not use it for long trips
doing the Major on the 575, plugs. oil filter, air filter, the works had to replace the water pump and found this crack on the cam end plate waiting on that part from Italy, then finish up
I would 2nd the water pump replacement on cam service - the impeller fell off mine last September and caused an overheat scenario but luckily managed to stop the car quickly so no serious damage. Also be careful of non OEM water pumps as I discovered mine was despite being serviced at a leading independent.
yea that seems to be the norm, the rebuilt kit is expensive so someone found a Chinese one that fits if you can believe that be careful out there

ok I just returned home from attempting to take the 575 to the USAF museum in Dayton OH enroute after I stopped for lunch in CHA I was unable to get the car in gear the low fluid light was on and would not allow the car to get in gear so I did a hard reboot of the system which fixed this issue but gave me a CEL got the car home safely and upon restart the CEL light went out!! go figure anyway I have 57000 plus mile on the car and that's been the only issue I have had I usually do 500 miles a month on the car, but I haven't lately my advice to all that own a F-1 gear box car is now how to do a hard reboot of the system it will get you going also always carry the TOW ring with you the majority of the items in the tool kit are worthless but not the tow ring!
Clyde- Have to remember they are female and sometimes just want some attention. Might be time for a full F1 service.
Wow, what a great thread! My 612 is being delivered next week and I have a lot of the same questions (about general reliability, about the F1 transmission and clutch, daily-driver concerns...etc). I too plan to drive my car as much as I can...and in all manner of conditions. That's what I bought it for. Thanks Clyde, thanks Taz (and any others I might have missed)...I am watching this one with interest! Oh, and as one USAF vet to two others...thank you for your service!
I was a die hard fan of manuals until I got my F-1 575 I would never go back I drive the 575 like a manual I shift up and down just like I would normally do with a manual I go to neutral at stop lights I only stay in 1st when I am in stop and go traffic you get the most clutch wear from starts if you are easy on the starts you clutch will last a long time I just put another 100 plus miles on the car with no issues whatsoever drive your car you will have little problems with it right now, I have over 57k on mine Clyde
I drove both the 575 manual and 575 F1 when the latter was presented to customers at Fiarano racetrack to present the F1 to the 575. The better track times I achived with the F1 by far. From 2005 - 2009 I drove a 2005 575 F1 with FHP (Grigio titanium, Beige Daytona, Castoro) over almost 90.000km mostly fast up to flat out especially on German autobahns very often from Weil am Rhein to Frankfurt and back (to Luzern). The 575 F1 FHP was (is) fast (enough) and a great handling car and I liked it far more than its successor 599 (Argento, Nero, Pool-Bar) which I drove over 60.000 km mostly between Switzerland and Germany, and found too "digital" and a less good handling car compared to my 575, however the 599 had more "punch" but rolled too much in speedy taken corners and had the far better (ceramic) brakes that the (steel) brakes of my 575. Image Unavailable, Please Login well as you can see, I went over 59K on the 575 I had a check engine light on this run I used my FOXWELL Scanner to clear the codes car runs great especially the A/C, it's been high 90's with very high humidly, but the cabin is cool I highly recommend the scanner, it's easy to use and well worth the money in my opinion I have to wash the car since I drove in a lot of rain on this run
