$350k for a new 911 Turbo just makes no sense. These are sportscars selling for supercar prices. Porsche is no longer a good value proposition alternative to real supercars.

Really? What’s a real “super car” compared to a Turbo S?? It roasts most every car on the market with bullet proof reliability

Everyone has a different opinion of “super car”. It’s not just about pure performance. It’s a combination of exotic looks, exclusivity, the feeling of exhilaration that you experience when driving it, and, finally, pure performance. Where the Turbo S falls short is in the area of low speed driving. When I am driving my 765LT, and before it my Performante (and soon to be STO), there’s an unmistakable exhilaration I get even when I am only traveling 45mph. Simply put, the Turbo S provides ZERO goosebumps at slow speeds and therefore, for me, it doesn’t rise to the level of “super car”. That said, it’s an incredible car and for what it does do, it’s hard to beat.

Dude that’s exactly how I felt about my 997 turbo. After owning a 964 turbo my 997 turbo was just absolutely boring unless you were on the throttle accelerating like crazy.

since the car is sold, I think totally acceptable to talk about how boring the car is....and I agree with the sentiment toward the turbo S. It is a very comfortable car that can go fast. When it is fast, you can only tell it's fast by how things disappear in the window. If you close your eyes, you can't tell it is at 120 or 40 mph, and I say that is a problem for a sport car.

I’m not sure they even consider it a sports car anymore. Now it’s just a big bloated GT car that happens to be too good and too easy. Maybe that’s what Porsche intends it to be, I don’t know.

Any car that makes a mediocre driver feel like he is better than he really is, is going to sell well to the well heeled customer. Which is profitable for the company. Most Porsche and Ferrari owners fit into that category.

Well I own a 992 TTS Cab and have an F8 on order. I spent a full day on the track with the TTS before I picked mine up (not mine) and its not bloated by any means and is an amazing track car. Is it as "emotional" as a Ferrari (prior F430, 458, 488 and 488 spider owner)- No but itsan amazing car nonetheless.....

Pretty soon, every car will be equipped with the same electric blender motors, and will be as fast as every other car on the road. So what will differentiate the sports cars from the super cars? The exotic factor comes into play. And the 911, while being a fantastic car, is made in numbers that doesn’t really qualify it as an exotic.

Considering this is non hybrid/non electric engine these results are INSANE and regardless of what you think of Porsche, it’s hard not to give the engineers kudos.

    https://www.caranddriver.com/news/amp34359564/2021-porsche-911-turbo-s-testing-zero-to-60/

I mean, the stats for the incoming 296 are not even this good and it’s 18 months to two years out. To think that the 992.2 varsity is supposed to add a hybrid engine I assume will easily be under 2 seconds. Imo these speeds are really too fast for normal drivers reaction times and could see a lot of crashes if not careful.

Porsche has made over 1 million 911s. They're not supercars no matter how many dozens of submodels of the 911 they offer each year.

Chalk on Bordeaux is stunning... but with over 1 million 911's made is not a supercar, it's a mass produced, albeit amazing and kick-ass, sports car...

Love my 992 turbo S cab, one of the best daily drivers out there and the 992 version was designed by engineers who worked on the GT cars so it’s much more of a sports car than prior 911’s.

Here in Scottsdale the local Porsche dealership will only place your 911Turbo S order if you’re willing to pay $100k over MSRP! Just a few short years ago you could expect a 2-4% discount off of MSRP. Crazy times!
