Actually never seen anyone who has a cruise-control in his car. Who can tell us about the use, maybe complexity and how often it is used (or not at all) ? Aftermarket install: is it an easy job to install a switch unit from Ebay like this one ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
My California T has pit speed. I drive many long rides and use the pit speed. Simply turn the knob to the right and hold for a second and the pit speed is set. Now you can increase and decrees your speed by turning left (decrease) or right (increase). Everytime you turn it increases 1 mph. The knob does not rotate around it rotates and springs back. Turn right let slide back and you increased 1 mph. You can turn it 2 or three times really fast and it captures all increases.
Looks like a relatively easy physical installation, but you will need your dealer to reprogram your car to recognize it. A friend had this put into his 458 spider and does use it on freeway runs between driving roads.
I've had it on my 458 and have it on my 488. I use it like I would cruise control on any other car: stretches of highway where the risk of a speeding ticket is high, and to gain some potential fuel efficiency. Pit Speed is easy to use as described above and as effective as any other. It helps that these modern Ferraris have sufficient low end torque.
I have it on my 458 and use it almost anytime I'm on the highway. It's a lifesaver for that super sensitive gas pedal.
i also have it on my 458 and use it just like any other cruise control you find in any other car. The only thing I don't like about this one is that there is no way to coast without touching the brake pedal. If someone knows how to do this then please inform us. It took me about 8 months to find out how to reset the speed after coasting.
I ordered it. If you want to drive long distances its useful. Like all Ferrari options is ridiculously overpriced.
I have it on my 458, but on my Turbo S I have adaptive cruise control. Once you've had adaptive, everything else is kind of prehistoric. It's pretty close to impossible to rear end someone with adaptive and great in traffic also. Cars: 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cab Only 2 that I drive.
^^ This Couldn't have described it better. I use it most often at highway speeds, when law enforcement is near and I need to maintain pace .. lol
I do NOT have cruise control on my 458 and I desperately need to add this. Just did 8+ hours of driving and my right ankle is killing me from no cruise control! If I buy this module is it plug and play or does my car absolutely have to goto a dealer to be programmed for the cruise control module to be recognized?
Must go to dealer. I did as well and use it all the time. I got mine on discount with a February sale on extras… SV
The part looks to be about $800 on Scuderia parts- https://www.scuderiacarparts.com/part/23494/ferrari/262397/display-mode-and-cruise-control-con.html was the dealer higher?
Hello, I have Pit Speed (Cruise Control) installed on my ‘15 458 Italia and I use it regularly. It was originally optioned on the car when built. My first ride home after purchasing it, was an 18-1/2 hour straight drive home from the dealer (stopping only for petrol). It was a nice option that kept me from getting cramps in my right leg from sustained pressure on the throttle. I also use it on F-joy rides occasionally, depending on the traffic congestion. Although most of my use is on the major highways, I also use it occasionally on “B” roads when I’m travelling long distances. I would recommend it and I’m glad it’s on my 458. Your dealer can install it if you decide to pull the trigger on this worthwhile option. Good luck to you and best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season! Cheers!
Can you let us know what the cost for programming was from the dealer. This is a must have for long highway drives Frankie
$1800 installed from: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/had-dealer-install-pit-speed-on-my-458-and-i-love-it.558742/ Rob
Cost from other threads that are also 4 years old is fairly irrelevant. If you want to know what it costs, ring up your local dealer. I’m not sure if independent shops have the ability to program the module or not, but you can also try asking them if you have a dealer allergy.
Fell in love with Pit Lane Speed on my 812, actually have my 458 in for it's annual at the dealer and adding Pit Lane Speed to it at the same time.
Wow Thats alot less then I thought. The parts are about 40% lower from Scuderia I wonder if dealer will install parts you bring them. Anyone know? I mean its not that big of a difference in the grand scheme of things Thanks Frankie
Dealers typically won’t install parts that they didn’t sell you. You could DIY or have an independent install the part and have dealer program it. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Thanx Buddy, Q: parts ... was that the left panel only ? Was the cabling for this pitspeed already in the harness ? Any info please ? We sometimes see these panels for around $ 500 for sale ... so ... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
