Don’t forget that SS-Autotech rebuild PTUs as well. Furlonger rebuild using stock parts but with an improved and proprietary seal design. SS-Autotech rebuild with forged selector forks of their own design and manufacture.

The U.K. is probably the best place in the world to be an FF owner when it comes to PTU worries and sleeping at night. If mine ever goes, it’ll be shipped to the U.K. for rebuild.

You're absolutely correct Anopax. I had the two mixed up. SS Autotech are the ones who seem to have the better fix. I get them confused as I'm sure I read somewhere that they worked together on the fix? High probability I have that completely wrong!

Very likely to be a blip. I get those error messages (rarely use the tender) and it was bleeding cold in the UK last night

Ferrari have confirmed it is "very much a PTU failure", not a battery/ gremlin. Ferrari cost £22k ish. Furlonger have quoted £9k ish. Warranty that came from GVE has a limit of £7500, but its yet to be confirmed if theyll cover it.

Insert a lot of expletives here. I had just got everything, bar the brake disc bolts, fixed and ready to sell to recoup some of my massive expenditure and now this.

Thank you! I’ve emailed GVE but it might come to this depending on their response. I would argue that my issue with corroded brake bolts, suspension play and now PTU should have been caught during a decent pre delivery inspection. I’ve done less than 3k miles and had it maybe 4 mths now. I’ve asked them what if anything they will do.

Very sorry to hear this Alex, I was very much hoping for your sake it just needed a good drive and battery charge!

To be fair, once the brake bolts are done and you do the Furlongher or SS Autotech fix, you've pretty much solved the biggest issues you're ever to come by on this car. (I don't buy the gearbox issues are as widespread as some say)
You'll end up with a cracking car either for yourself, or whoever wants to buy it.

Hope GVE come to the party, keep us posted.

Sorry to hear about your woes, but thank you for keeping us updated. I may have missed it, but the PPI was done at an authorized Ferrari dealer before purchase, and you purchased a Ferrari extended warranty through GVE? We will pray to the Ferrari gods for you.

    Hey Andy,
It didn’t come with a Ferrari PPI, although if I knew that had been an option, I would have asked for it. Hindsight etc. So
It was checked (and apparently serviced, although I’m sceptical) by GVE - and as they are a super car dealer, you’d like to think competent with this type of car. The warranty is a standard aftermarket one rather than a Ferrari power.

Very sorry for you sake with this latest update. I Was quietly hoping that you were going to fall in love with it after the initial hiccups, but it would seem that you have been so unlucky as to have ticked every build issue with your car in your brief ownership time. I'm starting to think you are right, sell it and move on. Just a word of caution.....plan very thoroughly if you intend to initiate a legal offense. These things can get incredibly expensive and sometimes completely useless at the same time.

This sounds very impressive and better than the rebuilds that I enquired about elsewhere.

I hope you finally get to enjoy this car. I’m very interested to see how you find the car afterwards as 8k seems to be a very fair price and the repair seems far more involved than other repair options.

    Howdy all,

Car has been over to SS Autotech the last few days to have the PTU stripped, refurbed and new bespoke forks.

Mostly not too bad, inside of the box was quite dirty with amount of debris attached to the oil pump strainer and selector fork magnets, forks were damaged and missing circlip, the 1st/2nd gearset shaft lock nut were very loose and low pressure hose was leaking/ perished. So all has been cleaned, checked and put back together and new custom made hose (as Ferrari out of stock until March).

So, dealing with them has been a breeze, super friendly and helpful, great service and the car should hopefully now be better than new. Very much recommended.

And becasue everyone loves a photo:

I just got my first Ferrari - a FF. My advice is to do it. Including all the money, hassle and learning curve. There simply is no substitute - but I got a CPO from Ferrari of Palm Beach and having a 2 year warranty is a major weight off my shoulders.

This poor guy is having lists of trouble and along comes someone to hoof him in the nuts with a comment about a 2 year Ferrari warranty for peace of mind!!!

So I think the car stands ~90K now
    most things fixed
the question is... is it cursed or are you over the hill and into enjoyment territory

Car stands at £21k spent on it to date, although as the warranty covered much of the PTU, the car owes me £13k.

Enjoyment territory? Nope. Been trying to get it ready to sell pretty much since it arrived and the woeful purchase experience. Every time i get near, something else needs doing. It'll be up for sale on Collecting Cars fairly soon once i sort out the brakes. It owes me £96k. Considering all the work and the PTU fix, i might hit this. Maybe. Whoever gets it will have a car that has been completely sorted and should give hassle free motoring.

I hope you consider keeping it, at least for a little while, once it's fixed. The experience you've had isn't the fault of the car, they are fabulous. Don't blame it!

For your interest, I think you'll get more for a private sale than Collecting Cars and also, there are quite a few dealership like Romans, Forza, GTC and so on that may surprise you with a decent bid. Collecting Cars is expensive for both parties and a high bid doesn't guarantee a sale. I know a couple of people that have had issues after the auction ends. It's very clever as they can say they sold at whatever bid but they don't have to declare whether it actualy completed. Caveat Emptor.

You will also get good money trading in from people like JZMPorsche and Cameron Sports Cars.

Not sure and a private sale with this sort of car is a PITA.

This F12 went for what I consider to be a about 10-15k under what you would pay at a dealer on CC but I suspect it's about right for a private sale. This is of course before fees.......

I have previously had what I consider to be a laughable offer on a previous car of mine at Romans. Suspect they just didn't want the car.

    Morning all.

Who'd like to see what £2200 buys for bespoke bolts for carbon ceramic brakes?? Here you go.... These are to replace the 40 bolts on the brakes as they are very corroded and when Ferrari jet washed them, the backs came off a few of them, which is obviously bad. You cant buy these, so had to have them made. Took a few months, but finally here. The last thing on the list :) :) :)

Thanks to Carl A and Outrun for chat on how best/ if to sell. Theres no right answer - I did chat to Romans as suggested, but too high milage. Private is an option, but that takes time and weary of tire kickers. Collecting Cars just seemed the quickest and easiest option - but, its an auction, so that could go either way value wise. Given the amount of work and cash spent, the fact that the PTU is now not only refurbed but improved, the brakes will now have years worth of life and a host of other issues and niggles all sorted, plus a long spec list, id like to aim for £97 - 100k. Do you think thats realistic??

They look fantastic. Think I'll be needing them at some point, great research.

You know I've been monitoring collecting cars since you mentioned it and the cars are actually making decent money.

I know it's risky but I believe you would make that for yours. That one I sent made almost that recently and it had a ([emoji47]) red interior. Yours is a lot nicer similar mileage and tiptop condition. From what I've read, the auction price us what the buyer receives but double check.

    Good luck with it Bud

Good luck with the sale and thanks very much of sharing your experience with us. Definitely will help me in the near future when I'm ready to buy one.
