If anyone knows of a well maintained 458 GT3 for sale, I am patiently looking for a nice car to use for private trackdays.
Tom: my understanding is that the GTE requires more support to run given its complexity and sophistication. What is your take on running a 458 GT3 vs GTE?
I've raced and owned both. I still own a 458 GTE. Its a great car with a glorious sound, I drive it a few times a year just for fun. The 458 GT3 is the best value for money trackday Ferrari, better than any Challenge. The 458 GTE works best with Michelin Confidential Tires which has been developed for this car. You dont have ABS in the GTE and the Car does not work well with Pirellis. The GT3 works much better with the Pirellis and you have ABS which is especially helpfull when the track is wet. Running costs for the GTE are almost double compared to the GT3. GTE's holding their values, if you find one with a successfull Le Mans Career even more but most of those examples are already in collectors hand. GT3's are hard to get but there are still a few around. For a pure trackday purpuse the GT3 would be my choice as values will not go down in the future.
and our friend in Belgium has a GTE for sale, now at Michelotto for a full service and change of livery. Concours car soon
3236 458GT3 for sale but why all the “misinformation”? Cavallino Classic 2022 event Why does a seller let potential buyers know it is THE MOMO CAR, while it is not, at least not telling the complete story. Historians know that it is 3610 (which is now in Australia) Historical facts: 3610 458 GT3 red Momo livery -assembled December 2014- January 2015, shipped new to the USA beginning 2015 -3rd to last 458 GT3 built, latest 2015 spec evo car -car entered in the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge Championship, where it won 9 out of 10 races, and by consequence won the championship! -Driver : Henrique Cisneros, combined with 2nd driver in some races -Race number: 30 -Laguna Seca 2015 race : line-up Henrique Cisneros with Alessandro Pier Guidi - result : P2 OA 2016 : no racing activities 2017: Entered in PWC - SPRINTX class AM category as no. 30 car; car was not competitive anymore against new generation GT3 cars, incl. the Ferrari 488 GT3 3rd race: car crashed, retired, never raced again 3236 458 GT3: -assembled 04/2011, first owner Via Italia (Brasil - Francisco Longo) -upgraded to 2013 specs -acquired by NGT in 2015 -car entered in the 2015 PWC championship in “chrome” MOMO livery -race number: 29 -driver : Eduardo Cisneros (brother of Henrique) + changing 2nd driver -Laguna Seca 2015 race : line-up Eduardo Cisneros with Alessandro BALZAN - result : P1 OA -no other results 2016 : no racing activities 2017: Entered in PWC - SPRINTX class AM cathegory no 29; car was not competitive anymore against new generation GT3 cars, incl. the Ferrari 488 GT3 4th race Virginia June 2017 : car received new designed red livery (other then the 2015 #3610 championship cars red livery design in May 2017) ; drivers : Henrique Cisneros and Tyler McQuarrie - raced with car number 30 car was retired after that race weekend. From a historical perspective, it is not correct if someone positions the 3236 car as “THE RED MOMO car”, it only had a red (different livery) for 1 race only. -one good result, Laguna Seca in 2015 with Alessandro Balzan P1 (car 29, “chrome” livery) So it would be nice to see it back in the “chrome” livery. Everyone will know which car is which Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
What misinformation do you feel has been given on this car? The car has always been represented as a MOMO car, which it has every right to be as most of its history is racing with MOMO livery. Also very curious to who you say is selling the car?
As a personal interest I am trying to keep track of (racing) Ferraris in a personal database. I am confused by your info on the 2017 PWC - SPRINTX season. The Wikipedia entry 2017 SprintX GT Championship Series - Wikipedia has no #29 listed at all, while (at least according to my database) #30 raced at all 5 tracks (VIR on 29.04.2017; Ontario on 21.05.2017; Lime Rock Park on 27.05.2017; Utah on 03.08.2017 and COTA on 03.09.2017). For round 4 (second race in the Ontario weekend) I have no results, but for the other events the car was outclassed but not crashed. My database lists the chassis as 3610 for all these 2017 races (data probably copied from Cavallino magazine). I have no SprintX race in June 2017.
Dear Tom, unfortunately you are spreading old news. We bought the car last week for a client and it is not for sale. Best, Jan B. Luehn
Dear Tom, not everything I own is for sale. It took me a long time to find a 458 GT3 with such great history (your take is not complete) and such great livery. I will most likely bring the car back to Europe and run it in the Ferrari Club Competizioni GT events. Best, Jan
