When in doubt, search the part on ebay. Usually there are plenty of photos from all angles, which will give you a clue.

Yours looks a bit different near the top edge however. Plus it's missing that speed button.

And also, when in doubt, YouTube is your friend...

From what I can see here, you need to remove the entire pod, then remove that VDA switch from the back.

Thanks Ray. I plan to replace it with the version with cruise control. Looks like a real bear to remove that entire left pod to get to the back screws on the VDA control.

It's really not that hard. I replaced mine about a year ago.
You have to remove the top binnacle, then the lower left fuse box cover (with the light switch in it), then the vent and switch assembly comes out as a unit. Then once out, you will see the screws holding the switch in. If I remember correctly, it was easier to get to the screws if I unscrewed the 2 halves of the vent assembly first. It's very obvious when you see it.
Look up the procedure of each part so you don't break anything. If you have removed the lower left fuse box cover already, that's the hardest part (not that hard though). And once the binnacle and lower left parts are off, the vent and switch assembly are very obvious how they come apart.
So that leaves the binnacle. For that, there are two screws (I don't remember what heads are on them) that are located left and right of the tachometer. If you look up, you will see them. Once removed, you pull the binnacle straight towards you, and up in the front, and it will come off.
It took me about 1 hr total for the switch replacement. I feel like if I did it again, and ready with tools, I could probably do it in 25 minutes total.

DIY is great as long as nothing breaks ... and it always pays out !

Thanx for sharing ! May do that one day too ... :)

But motorways in The Netherlands are not that long ....

I just re-read my post. I would like to clarify the binnacle removal a little. I wrote that "you pull the binnacle towards you, and up in the front"
By up in the front, I meant the front of the binnacle that is towards you, not the front, near the front of the car by the windshield. I just wanted to make sure that it was understood properly, and the way I intended it.

Of course you need to look up the work shop manual instructions to make sure that it is being done correctly, since my instructions are from memory.

Hi - I too have a problem with the left side TFT control and need to try swapping out the Main/VDA switch. I have tried to follow the instructions from above but i must be a bit slow and can't seem to make heads or tails from it. The shop manual is even worse - here's the page that talks about it:

I am able to release the bottom of the lower trim panel as shown - it has 3 screws and not just the one shown in the picture. However, the location where it shows with the arrows to "prisie" out the panel I have no luck prying it out pulling/prying as much as I dare so as not to damage the panel. Anyone have any experience getting this out who can tell me what I am missing? Thanks much.

Never mind my previous post. Someone posted about this strange interaction between the roof mounted front sensor and this problem. Changing the status of this button solved the roble. Only in a Ferrari :)
