I’m about to do a thing! Surprise 348 find

Well I wasn’t intending on being a 348 owner but it’s kind of falling in my lap . I asked about an older Range Rover I saw on Facebook marketplace and when he sent pics I saw the 348 in the background and asked if it was for sale and he said “possibly?”. The car is 3 miles from my house, same owner for 20 years and I’ve never seen it out once. I went and checked it out and it needs a new top, the leather is intact but peeling some so will need treated. Rear decklid needs a respray and he said the major was done in 2015 and 4600 miles ago. The car has 35,000 miles and clean carfax. Took her around the block and she drove beautiful! Good power, shifting was solid and overall I was very impressed. He said I could take it for $42,500 and I feel like with the things fixed I’ll still be in it okay once sorted. I mean I’ve got to do it, right?

I was really kinda searching for a 612 or 575 but something about this car just draws me to it. What do you all think? Is this a no brainer or should i sit on it a bit and think about it? Pics below:

I think he’s firm but I have some good connections on the major and paintwork so hopefully I’ll be closer to 10-12 on everything. The top is going to be hard to source

 

current owner isn’t on Fchat that I know of? It was cold out so hard to tell if AC works. Fan speed did work however. Heat I tried and I don’t remember it getting warm but i only drove it 3-4 miles. It does have 355 wheels and he has a spare 5th wheel as well. I think it’s going to need some attention but a really good foundation for sure.

 

I pick it up either tonight or tomorrow! Waiting on the seller. So excited to have one back in the garage again

Well in a surprise twist, I ended up giving the car to my good friend Bob for what I paid for it. He had been begging me to let him buy the car as it was his childhood dream car and when I got it home and showed the wife she loved the car but hated the fact that I couldn’t take our 9yr old daughter around in it anywhere as a family. She convinced me to look at either a 612 or a new GT500 so that’s the route I’m gonna go! Bob should be on here at any moment signing up lol, he’s still on cloud 9 about it. I’m kinda sad because it’s such a beautiful car and the driving experience is just so amazing with the top down but really makes sense for me to have something exciting the whole family can roll around in.

 

Yep! I’m gonna miss the hell out of that car. 20 years of my life with that beauty and when it was right it was just insane to drive. I’m still sad and can’t believe I parted with it but I have the option to buy it back when it’s restored and honestly plan to do so.
