I've done multiple 500+ mile days and a 800+ mile day in the 575M (all for work) and when I got home (same day) felt great, not many cars can pull that off. These cars were meant to rack up the miles. I think the only car with a better ability to absolutely crush continents is the Murcielago, but that lacks the storage space and civility.

totally agree with you on this, plenty of storage room on the 575 for everything.
large fuel tank and it was made to run hard

LOVE IT. 24 years and 100k+ on a TR….I assume you are the only person that could make such a bold ownership statement. The number of adventures over those miles….

I have been from key west to MONTRÉAL in the 512 TR
    Love it
I did all my own services so I knew the car
    It never left me anywhere
The only thing I hated was the A/C it was marginal in the south during the summer months
And the car attracted people way to much for me
    That’s what I love about the 575M
It’s stealth, your past people before they figure out what it is
And I can whip up on cars before they know what hit them
I love when the chevys and mustangs try to out run me, especially the dodge crowd ( the 4 wheel brick)
And let’s not mention the pick up crowd
Got to go into crew rest
Long run tomorrow to the big easy to be with the grandkids for thanksgiving
    Stay safe my friend
    Happy holidays to all

yes, the 575 is a stealth vehicle,, in any color other than red, only a few recognize it for what it is..
    and that's a good thing

i have to say, the only thing better than looking at it is driving it

i always smile when i see it in the garage

Wish it was my wall.....Loading up at the exit at Wynn-Penske where wife and I stopped for minor service and detailing on the way to S.F. and Napa. LV was a nice place to pit stop when the F car dealer was at the Wynn.

I have a quite large suitcase that fits perfevtmy in the trunk of my 550. Today, I went to my buddy’s cabin. Brought Enzo the dog. I put his dog bed on the shelf. Left him in the pssenger seat. When I came back, he had managed to install himself in his dog bed on top of the shelf. We did a 150 km. trip and he slept there all the way. Not really a collission safe position, but it actually works quite nice… Get out and drive! Had about freezing temps today, but still no salt.

Clyde, appreciate the article as well.

When I read the part about firing your handgun out the window and also… the part about crashing and…”I autorotated into elephant grass” gave me goosebumps….impossible for me to comprehend how scary that had to be.

Appreciate you sharing. Grateful for your service. — Eric

I learned this little trick while going through the fairly large effort to manage underhood temps (in order to reduce cabin temps) on my Vipers. Remove the rubber strip at the cowl and it helps evacuate hot air. Keep the rubber strip in a box and it can easily be reinstalled in the future.

The longest I have driven my 550 (or any other car for that matter) is from Nice at south of France via Luxemburg and up to Rostock at the very top of Germany. Went 08 in the morning and arrived at midnight around 1.700 kms. later. Got time to wash the car, walk the dog and have dinner during the trip. Great car to drive long distances… Life is OK when you realize that you are doing less than 200 kph. once in a while but usually a lot faster. The Maranello can actually cruise at maybe 30-40 % throttle at speeds around 260-270 kph (160 mph.) comfortably. That is wha timpres me the most the engines breath so well with all these valves and cylinders….

white out: In what way do you prefer the Murcielago over the 575M when crossing continents? Just curious.. :)

Clyde, I am impressed, and my hat is off to you
I can think of a number of things, but the first one that comes to mind is of Ginger Rodgers, if anyone remembers her, She did all the dance steps that Fred Astaire did, but backwards.... i hope you see the analogy
