Happy thanksgiving! We had the usual plus this nice new app. Sauteed artichoke hearts. Very easy. Drain marinaded chokes from jar and pat dry. Coat flour and batter w beaten egg, parm, parsley. Fry and serve w lemon.

Doing the strip steaks tonight. I might cook two for me and instead of freezing the third. Give it to Bella.

Haha you know how to bring up sore point! YouTube guy called sip and serve (authentic Brooklyn italamerican cooking) said olive oil which I always use anyway. But brainfart caused me to use Wesson by mistake. Realized halfway through and figured I ruined it but was fine! Jar artichokes packed in olive oil anyway so doesn't even matter. Start with little less 1/2 inch oil in pan.

Brings back memories. My mother used to love artichoke hearts. I think she made them the same way, maybe without the lemon.

I've never heard of using the marinated ones to make them, I've always seen that recipe using fresh. Sounds even better with the marinated ones though. :)

And using jarred artichokes makes for a much easier recipe than having to trim and cut fresh ones. Save those for when want to stuff w breadcrumbs.

I get Five Guys at least once per week for lunch and sometimes dinner. Bacon cheeseburger and fries. I like Fatburger better, but they are always to busy. What I like about Fatburger is they sell alcohol here.

Saved a strip steak and going to make a steak sandwich with fries tonight.

Bought a small loaf of good bread on the way home last night so I could make turkey sammich for dinner. I usually have one late on Thanksgiving night but I don't keep bread around and didn't think ahead to get any. A good turkey sammich is one of the best parts of Thanksgiving to me.

Not sure about tonight, between Thanksgiving and bread for sammiches that's about the most carbs I've had in a long while. So tonight might be zoodles and sauce, still have some left from the last batch.

I kinda want to get a small turkey breast and bake it off, leftover turkey is the best but no more sammiches. We'll see, I'm staying in today, it's wet and miserable out there. :)

Leftover turkey is indeed a great thing!

    My suggestion, turkey zoodle tettrazini!

Sweating an onion and poblano peppers from the garden. Sorry, northern Tifosi, our gardens are still producing down here!

Lessons learned or re-learned. 1. Poblano peppers turn red when they get ripe. 2. Since these are smaller than the ones you see at the grocery store, the skin is less fibrous. A good thing. 3. Red poblanos are hotter than green?!? Or, maybe this is a hotter cultivar than Kroger stocks? At any rate, I just about pepper gassed the house even with the exhaust fan running on full blast and an open window, this earning the dreaded skunk eye from the wife! ☹️

That being said, leftover turkey, poblano fajitas were dang tasty!

Looks good. We split the leftovers and I only brought home enough for a couple sammiches. All gone except part of a wing that was in the bottom of the bag. :)

Cacio e pepe, cutlets and a tomato salad. FYI- using cacio instead of pecorino (Romano)makes a world of difference.

My fave carb free is the cold picking of the carcass. Best is deep fried but as long as one has some browning.....I just pick on the bones for days in front of the boob toob. Going to deep fry my turkey tomorrow during football, turkey in the brine now.. Was at sister's this holiday. Cheers

My dad and his GF usually take the carcass home to make soup. I did deep fry the turkey, just under a 20lb bird done in just over an hour. And it was tasty even if I do say so myself. :)

The back of the turkey is the conoisseur's choice - tender and tasty "oysters". Gizzards, giblets and necks are good to snack on, or make gravy or stock from...T

Sometimes I just buy duck gizzards and confit them in duck fat. Pretty tasty cold straight with salt or on a salad.
