It may be strong money for a scud but truthfully ... The scud is by far my favorite mid engine V8 Ferrari with a great sound and it really feels like a race car when you want it to a and a weekend cruiser when you want that..... just drive it through a tunnel at near redline and you will understand .....to me if a special is worth more then this is underpriced....

I was entirely convinced this is just a bubble.

However, I noticed recently that every restaurant, vacation spot and store we shop at have raised their prices meaningfully the past few months.

This is NOT a bubble, this is true and brutal inflation where cash just loses its value, permanently.

I just signed a purchase order on a very rare Gallardo that would’ve been 20% cheaper a year ago and I have no qualms about paying more for it, just like I do for my favorite sushi, wine, loaf and ski destination.

True, I bid on a 599 GTO and thankfully didn’t get it because truthfully I wasn’t planning on purchasing it…. But you get caught up in the moment.
Could have ended up in a divorce lol.

    I disagree about BAT.

I think it is an incredibly powerful platform to price EACH individual car in an incredibly specific way based on the car’s history and desirability.

I’ve seen several cars tank over the years that arrive with so much fanfare at the beginning of the auction.

More often than not because of specific history events that one of the BAT members bring to light or a general lack of demand for a car, especially ones that get hyped up by the seller but just don’t stack up.

So it’s a great place to avoid duds and make an expensive mistake, especially for people who are just entering the collectibles market. The flip side is that it’s not a place to find a bargain on desirable pieces.

Not sure I agree - the internet is filled with stories of not as described buys there

End of day you get pictures of a car / sometimes no paint meter / most times no diagnostics or engine compression

no ability to check carbon brakes etc etc

I’ve sold on there never bought

The below Diablo was a perfect case in point about a car that came in with so much expectations. A BAT member knew about a history event no else did, even the owner that was selling it, and the entire auction unraveled. The car was re-listed but sold for much less than original estimate. Talk about dodging a bullet.

I bought and sold on BAT and I'd do it again.

Not only do some buyers get caught up in the moment, the platform itself seems to give many a somewhat false sense of security that what they are buying is as described.

I have been looking for 4 years for a carrera white/carrera red, manual, carbon buckets first gen boxster sypder. When one came up a couple months back on BAT advertised as 2 owner, all options (unicorn) and clean, I was ready to pay all in. That said, like when I bought my Scud, I first had the appropraite professionals look at the car.

In the final 24 hours of the auction we learned that EVERY panel had been repainted and within the first 500 miles it had range 4 and 5 overrevs (very, very bad). It was very obvious the car had been tracked by the first owner before the engine was broken in and had taken a hit according to the inspector. Owner was made aware of this, with all paint readings and the DME report, and chose to not let bidders know, preventing the auction from unraveling similar to the above story.

Some buyers did not make the effort to have the car looked at, and just trust what the owner and BAT say. At the end of the day you are no more safe buying a used car on BAT, than on craigslist, outside of the enthusiasts who may help expose issues on your possible new purchase. Caveat emptor.

Plus do you know how many car sales don't get completed on there? Many... Many cars... They bid to that and then... The buyer doesn't come through.
.the guy who sold his 812 the other day for 380... You could go on lake forest website and get a cpo car with less miles in red for 365... Asking.

195 was still less than what I sold it for. F chat is a terrible marketplace so I never bothered raising the price. 20 or so tire kickers and no real bites. CarGurus did the trick.
