My tank is not big enough and like Carl said many years ago, I wish fuel was $10 a litre .... keep the bogans off the road
I've said that in the past also and don't worry....................the way things are looking at the moment, we might get what we wished for.
I remember reading here around 2007 sometime, a fellow Fchatter in Europe had just purchased a brand new beautiful Grigio Silverstone Ferrari 599 from a German Ferrari dealership and drove it back home to France from memory. A 599 has a 105 litre fuel tank and the fuel tank was full in his 599 when he and his Wife picked the car up from the dealership. He said he drove that car from the dealership straight onto the Autobahn and then pushed the accelerator pedal through the floor because he wanted to see what the performance of the car was like lol From memory, he sat on 260 km/h for the majority of that trip and reached the top speed once or twice before the fuel light came on after 30 mins or so and he had to pull off the Autobahn and find a servo lol.
In Interesting, I never realised the newer Ferrari had such big fuel tanks - 308 is only 75l (15 of which is reserve so 60l is practically my biggest fillup)
Definitely interesting they made such big fuel tanks in such little cars lol. From the 308 onwards, they went big fuel tanks after that lol. Mind you, I still think the 308 has a big fuel tank for a little car, Nicole's old 2005 Holden Statesman had a 75L fuel tank and that was a BIG family car. Her 2015 Prado now has a 150L fuel tank, but think back to 1984 when the Testarossa had a 115L fuel tank. I remember a FerrariChat friend of mine that lives in the UK told me 10+ years ago that only once in life he filled the fuel tank in his Testarossa and it cost him nearly £125 back then lol.
Of course my view is a bit warped since Bambi fuel rank is (I recently found out!) 20l of which 5 is reserve (for 40 years I thought it was 15 total! Gets me 150miles...
Maybe this had a hand in the large fuel tank business Image Unavailable, Please Login I remember my dad storing petrol in the shed by the bucket load in the 70s because he feared running out of fuel and not being able to get gas at the petrol station, it seemed like a real issue back then,
My dad was an oil consultant working for Shell and Santos, he got a Shell card which was good even after he died, my mum used it until she died, then the card died .............. Shell tried for years to buy her card off her Fuel is the cheapest thing that goes into my car
The First series 3lt turbo diesel Prado's had a pair of 90's they had an amazing range as they are very frugal(as you may know) and bizarrely the 80's and 100's 'only' have a 95 main and 50 sub.
Ah ! That’s great and yep I would agree with that, I laugh when folk refer to the 360 as an affordable ferrari, compared to what exactly, a Sherman tank? (Please! no handling jokes)
Yep, I remember them man. 180L of fuel was fantastic! The Wife's Prado now gets us where we need to go no worries. And definitely odd why they didn't put twin 90L in those Cruisers also lol
