I have new information, #55173 was never registered in Switzerland, it was originally registered in Germany and was sold to Spain through a Swiss company.

This one will need everything mechanical gone through which is a six-figure proposition if done fully, courtesy of 23 years of deferred maintenance per the auction writeup:

Since joining the Petitjean Collection in December 1998, this 288 GTO was rarely used; it only covered an additional 2,600 km. It is still equipped with its original on-board tools. Since it has been exposed without driving for several years, it is recommended that it be repaired before returning it to service.

As you can see there is surface corrosion in multiple places and and the clutch pedal has collapsed, likely due to a porous bell-housing which will need to be removed and relined.

I agree if the few photos I have seen are representative of the entire car. It is not just neglect either. It has some unfortunate repairs.

right, and if you have the money for the entrance fee on this car - a six figure proposition to go through the car to make it roadworthy isn't going to result in you eating noodles for dinner to cover the costs....lol...

True, that said, provenance consisting of deferred maintenance for 23 years isn't a huge selling point and that by itself, and that aside, I can think of more than a few collectors who want a turn-key car that has been regularly maintained, and, they aren't interested in spending another six-figures or waiting the time that it will take to fully go through a GTO mechanically.

Still GTOs are very desirable and I think it'll fare well.

Fairly common issue with 288 GTOs which are not used, the remedy is routine maintenance for these.

It will be a nice project car for a full restoration at the factory... all the cars in the collection seem to be in the same condition. Where would you see the price on a F40 and a F50 if they were in the same condition for a restoration? thanks.

Yes I am sure it will find a new home.

Nice to see the former Mr. Hugenholz 250GTO as well! I remember him and his car at I believe the 1985 Ferrari Club Nederland meeting at Zandvoort race track. I briefly talked to him. Very nice gentleman. And for me a surprise to see the 308GTSi project car, this comes from the Baillon estate, famous for the 250 SWB California s/n 2935GT. Sold back in 2015 by Artcurial in Paris.

Neither father nor son Hugenholtz ever had a 250 GTO.
You mean 250 GTE 2+2, chassis #4339 GT. Slightly different animal.
