My car is is about 4 months old. I charge it nightly at home, I’ve been plugging my fcars after drives for years, so I am used to it. I have supercharged it on trips to Vegas. On my trip to Vegas battery was down to 7 percent. I follow the manual and plug in every night and charge up to 90 percent. The cars does not degrade in performance until below 20 percent. Battery capacity is still at 100, though I expect that number to reduce by one every year based on research done on Tesla forums. Currently about 2800 miles consisting of short trips and picking up my kid from school etc with a couple of Vegas trips thrown in (550 mile round trip). Luv the car and it’s ease of use, charging while -reconditioned at level 3 supercharger is a breeze, tech is cool, autopilot is very smooth, brakes are weak compared to M5, e63s and ctsV that I have owned. There is no typical steering wheel, no stalked on the wheel, the car guesses to go forward or reverse with great accuracy. Amazing car to have in addition to Ferrari, really not comparable. This is not the kind of car you pass onto your kid. Merely a cool appliance at this point in time.

when on track, I doubt re-gen is of much use unless you taking it easy...otherwise you're going to hit the brakes...

as for L3 charger, unoccupied, near a track, not many to come by, so could be likely you will be driving a long way back and forth to fill up...so there's that consideration as well I presume

Few people (at least in the USA) know VW is outselling Tesla in Europe, that was a big surprise to me, Mercedes just announced their new all electric car that has a 620+ mile range beating the nearest competitor (not tesla, they are shorter range) buy 95ish miles...

    https://electrek.co/2021/11/25/mercedes-benz-teases-upcoming-hyper-efficient-electric-car-1000-km-620-miles-range/

This maybe an apples to orange comparison, I think the MB is a small coupe but still not sure, but I mention it to show how close everyone is to catching up to Tesla.

Tesla has proved me wrong all the time, but I still think when the major manufacturers get more serious they are going to overtake Tesla everything sales, performance, looks, etc in EV.

Well, Im not going to start with the insults. with that being said, I was talking about an article that I read in a UK car magazine several years ago, a company that had cars to rent to drive on a race track, maybe silverstone, or whatever, they were very happy with the car, reliable, everything worked well including the brakes. I only posted what the owner of the company said about the 308 s brakes .I have driven several different cars, over my tenure . LIke I said before, my 328s brakes have never faded on me, in 22 years. Maybe the guys driving their 3x8s on tracks, dont really know what the F*** they are doing, 3x8s are really not that fast, they are pretty light as far as weight is concerned, why they are cooking their brakes apart may be because they just do not know how to drive them ?? When Im driving in the canyons and mountain roads here in So Cal, my car handles like a ballerina, Im flying around corners, by setting the car up, and mostly only have to tap the brakes slightly , these cars do not need a lot of hard braking if you know how to drive them, its that simple. For a 32 year old car, I have to say, the brakes are one its best attributes. And yes, you cannot compare them to the latest and greatest, but they work really well for what they are .

    Thank you

once again you are trying to paint a picture to suit your own narrative....
my many statements in this thread and others, are quite evidently not against EV's or hybrids, and i OWN one, and i even post on YOUR EV forum for god's sake !!!
my specific remark in the post you chose to quote is to to suggest that in the ferrari discussion section of ferrari chat, that folks who evidently do not like ferraris enough even to own one (the OP for example), and then proceed to promote a tesla, sure sound like they might be more comfortable in a forum that discusses the merits of tesla.....silly me.....

furthermore, my circle jerk comment was in reference to the seemingly endless reparte between the OP and Paulchua.....thankfully that has stopped.

edit, sorry, just read further in the thread and its pretty obvious that paulchua has chosen to make this his crusade and argue with anybody and everybody on here. ..... :)

I can , and have, for for more than a 40 minute track session,40 minutes is nothing compared to a canyon drive, with no runoff for several miles at a time at speed , out here where I live, you can drive for much longer then 40 minutes with clear road ahead, if your braking that hard on the track, your doing something wrong, its that simple Sir, driving on a track should be easier, and you should not have to brake hard like your doing. Its 328 for God Sakes. Same as racing a motorcycle, its easier on a track then on the street. Have you ever watched the video of I believe MS driving an Enzo around the track, there was a video of that posted, right after that knucklehead crashed someones Enzo here at Irwindale speedway, MS was driving that Enzo around like a ballerina does her , whatever you call it, it was very graceful to say the least. The 328 is not a race car, maybe if your doing track days, you should upgrade your brakes. Over the years, of course we all have read the 1000s of write ups on the 3x8s, I cant remember anyone saying the brakes sucked, on the road or on the track, but who knows, maybe there is. All I can say, is that I have always been happy with every aspect of my 328 brakes, and insults included lol. The faster the car, the better the brakes need to be, Just back in Nov, I got to drive my best friends 08 twin turbo, with 550 at the rear wheel, its so fast , that yes, you better have the brakes to slow it down, its got twice the HP of my 328,so its got to have twice the braking force, and all I can say, is it does, the brakes match the cars power, same as a 3x8. Maybe you will be in SO CAl someday for a track day at Willow Springs, I will meet up with you, and show you how its done, and I wont even have to use my brakes much at all, good grief, these cars are so slow by todays standards, cooking off your brakes ? lol
    Thank you

These guys are having a good time, nice and wide, with lots of run off, looks like a lot of fun, with that being said, you can see these 3x8s are very slow, way to slow for this track anyways. I dont think they are worried or are having a problem with their brakes. By the looks of this track, even though the 3x8s are slow, it looks like they are doing really well for what they are. Given the same pace, I would be using my brakes on a good canyon run , 3 times as much as these guys , with no problem I might add.

    Thank you

Thank you for the honest assessment. My wife puts about 20k miles a year on her vehicle, 90% highway commuting. It's around 40 miles each way. Soon it will be time for her to get a new vehicle. I honestly ask these questions because I want to figure out the best option that she may want, another ICE, ICE/Electric Hybrid, or Tesla. We spend a lot on fuel, not that it is a hardship, but I look for the best economic/quality/fun experience since she does spend over an hour a day in her vehicle. So, thank you for the information, I appreciate it.

It all comes down to pocket book size. The big guys have it and Tesla has been borrowing it. The big guys have let Tesla build the market over the last 10 years and they will step in with thousands of every type of engineer and artists developing all kinds of different models and push Tesla out to the point that Tesla sells out to one of them while the brand still has value. I do think you are fully correct.

fundamentally I see nothing wrong with this thread and even Ferrari blinder people shouldn’t be afraid of it. We have comparison threads with many makes. it makes good discussion or if you disagree don’t tell people to stop, just don’t look.

you have zero clue. when you have as much track time AND rallying on mountain roads as I do in various Ferraris, then we can talk.

my 328 lap times were similar to the average drivers in Cali/360/430. don’t talk about you know anything about your brakes when you are driving the track and mountain roads 5/10ths. You are just another average Ferrari Sunday driver, not what these cars were built for. Not a huge put down, you have company with about 90% of owners.

All I can say is, we will have to meet up at a track day, and put up 1000.00, and see who can do better, if your lap times are stronger than a 430 , your up against , well I really dont know , because those Ferraris are twice as fast as ours lol , no wonder you think your so fast !!! lol No put down we are not going to sway one another either way. You saw the video, it speaks louder than words. My 125 CC CRG shifter kart will rip you in your 328 anytime, anywhere !!! You forgot, Ive got 100s of hours on track (racing / track days)( and probably 250,000 miles + combined bikes and 328) on several different motorcycles over 30 years, as well. Cars are way easier to drive fast, its that simple. . It would be fun for us to play cat and mouse up on Angeles Crest , it would sure be interesting, maybe that would give us an idea of what things would look like on track.I know where you live, there are not many mountain, canyon roads, so I would guess you would have to drive to Georgia, or Tenn, I can see that track time would be essential for you to get your car to go around corners other than 90 degrees, maybe Tx was better for roads. Out here where I live, its an everyday opportunity, and Ive been cutting my teeth on 2 and four wheels for 30 plus years, so you cannot say Im in that 90 %, Im in the 1 % Sir. Anyhow, good stuff, starting from a tesla post to here, only on FCHAT, Im grateful there is such a place for all of us to bench race, talk shop, and to practice keeping out egos in check. Thank God for Ferraris, I think I can still say that, in this age of electrics . I think I will go and watch Ferrari, Race To Immortality .

    Thank you

you obviously know nothing about me. the more you talk, the more it shows your ignorance about Tesla, '08's, Ferraris, owners, track driving, mountain driving, racing, and me.

    Thanks for sharing.

I mean, I GET IT. Folks find any change scary, and politically driven ones even worse.

When looking at electricity in the context of this forum. I only ask one question.

IS IT FASTER FOR THE SAME PRICE?

I'm a simple man, that likes to ask simple questions.

That question is not blue/red, global warming-related, involve subsidies, cult of personality, or tax breaks.

Again, do electric/hybrid drivetrains make cars better performing?

It takes a true tool to lie about the answer.

It just cracks me up that detractors that do answer it HONESTLY, often devolve in everything but performance and speed.

If one does not see the irony of that, stay in the shed good god.

Your FIFY introduced politics, NOT ME. You brought it up again first, not me.

What I DID do is point out what the politics you brought up didn't even hold up.

For you to now engage in intellectual gymnastics is unbecoming, sir, and dare I say exposes more than ever I can.
