Issued by the Race Director. My life does not depend on who wins a title in F1. Call Masi. They issued the ruling. If reversed I would feel the same.

Red Bull says it won’t hesitate to change Max Verstappen's gearbox if it has any concerns about damage from his qualifying crash at Formula 1’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The statement on the yellow flag incident read as follows:

"The Race Director reported to the Stewards that the double yellow flag warning on the FIA Marshalling System was activated at Light Panel Number 6 accidentally, for less than one second.

"As the on-board video of Car 44 (to be released by the Commercial Rights Holder following this Decision) clearly shows, there was no yellow flag displayed, no yellow lights were displayed to that driver and the yellow warning light was not visible on the driver's steering wheel.

"Unlike other incidents this year, there was no yellow flag or yellow light displayed to the driver (the driver already being well into the marshalling sector when the system was briefly activated) hence no breach of the regulations has occurred."

    Mazepin incident -

The stewards decided Mercedes' communication with Hamilton was as much to blame and fined the team €25,000 as well as giving Hamilton a reprimand.

"The driver was given a 10-second warning that Car 9 [Mazepin] was approaching when he was at Turn 2," the statement said. "Due to a failure in communication by the team he was not given another warning until Car 9 was alongside him.

"The stewards accept that this circuit presents challenges for drivers in relation to using their mirrors as the method of determining the approach of overtaking cars. Although it is the driver's ultimate responsibility to avoid impeding, for this circuit the driver must depend upon the team to communicate efficiently.

"This did not happen in this case and accordingly the penalty for the competitor is imposed. The stewards take this opportunity to emphasise that due to the nature of this circuit it is essential that teams communicate effectively and proactively with their drivers. This is not to be taken as a precedent for other circuits."

Was referring to the spin he had that damaged the wing. He went out again and had to get out of it at the same corner because the back stepped out again.

He said he put some extra DF at the front and this caused the imbalance.

I had to quote this because I didn't think this would happen. I agree with you.

Max really push that car into that speed. But let's see what the race brings.

Given no safety cars, or red flags, or bad pit stops, or traffic, or accidents, or bad starts, or mechanicals…sure the pole position wins the race! In the real world, all those come into play, and I’ll give Max a shot at winning this race. Turns 1-2 could be epic.

Any news on the RB gearbox? And if they decide to replace the gearbox, that's an automatic 5-place relegation on the grid, to 8th. If they then decided to also change ICU, would they get an additional 5 place penalty down to 13th? At the start of the weekend, RB had said no need for new ICU, but I've read there is a possibility for next weekend. Maybe now take the penalty in one lump sum? Even starting 13th, with DRS Max can gain on the straights over 50 laps (VSC is inevitable at some point too) and still likely haul in 3rd place?

Yes, but at the expense of Sainz.
You mention traffic. That is almost always a non-issue, except in Monaco where it can be tricky to navigate. But here, with all the blind corners,
if someone is way too slow, it will become a serious concern. The marshalls are going to be in hyper drive. Give them RedBull...!

    Wolff: 'Verstappen deserved pole'

    Max Verstappen
was doing a fantastic job and pole position seemed a certainty, but a collision with the wall put an end to that. Toto Wolff also saw it happen, but the Mercedes team boss didn't show any joy in his reaction.

After all, he saw that Red Bull Racing were significantly faster than Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, so he certainly expects Verstappen to come back in the race. "Formula 1 is crazy and full of surprises. They had a very dominant package. There car was great and they brought the tyre in the warm-up with a single lap, and we struggled to do that," Wolff said in a conversation with Sky Sports.

The planks get checked after the race.

Because of the rake on the RBs, it’s predominantly the leading edge of the plank that rubs on the ground and they have titanium skid blocks to protect the plank from wear in that area.

This was an accident with the system identified. There was no yellow.

If you dont like it call Todt. Maybe he will fire Masi.

I think he should be booted. Accidental yellow's etc and other issues. The problem is the FIA and Masi.

Max should be happy as he was not penalized in Brazil and others were and those examples were in the press with the drivers talking about it who were penalized.
    Max got a gift. Period.

That's kinda harsh calling Perez "trash." I'll agree Leclerc is more superior than Perez....but over the 2021 season, how many times has Leclerc beat Perez in qualifying and the race? Obviously Leclerc and Sainz have a "crappy" car.

Over Perez's history, he's been very consistent. He "saved" and forced Force India into administration by sueing Vijay Mallya. Lawrence Stroll got rid of Perez, and Perez got the RedBull seat....."Hold my beer Stroll!!!" Perez isn't at Max's level, but then again very few are at Max's level.....very few!!
