    OK. Still a silly comment.
    Like it or not, when talk of "sports cars' is being undertaken, "numbers" ARE an essential part of the conversation. "Image, heritage, and feel" is something that the MC20 is attempting to recapture for Maserati as it has been lacking for decades.

    Well, he said something true and...wrong!
    Wrong: the MC12 was not an Enzo. Only the monocoque was the same and the engine block. Cyl.-head was MUCH different (Enzo: chain driven! MC12: advanced gear-driven!)
    True: A test face-to-face with the new Ferrari 296 and the MC20 will never happen...(most likely ;))

    I did not exclude numbers outright of course, I stated they are not the only criteria.

    Otherwise the NSX and the VW Phaeton would have been far greater sales successes yet the reality is they did not achieve anywhere near the success they deserved because the NSX was a Honda (Acura in the US only) and buyers preferred a Ferrari or a Porsche and no one wants a top luxury car with a...VW badge. That is why Toyota invented the Lexus brand, same.

    When I had lunch with perhaps the greatest Ferrari collector, the late Pierre Bardinon at his chateau, private museum and circuit May 1 1998 he stated that he liked to compare models like you compare wines, that struck me and I have used that analogy ever since.

    Yes we all know the Biturbo years did not help the brand.

    As Bob also did I wondered if you are related to John Bookout former Shell CEO and major Maserati collector?
    I sold his ex Khamsin from Pennsylvania to Germany in July.

    (I am a Biturbo lover... well, I prefer the later 'number' cars and the Ghibli II/Shamal).

    The vehicle will hit the road in January, meanwhile the dealer is having a launch party here and I am also wrapping the vehicle. Anyway my other vehicle is a Ferrari 458 which is a completely different vehicle. I bought the Maserati because I was looking for something else, a carbon chassis and a turbo engine that is the complete opposite of what a Ferrari
