Hello, I just bought a car and I need to find enclosed transportation, any recommendations? Car will be picked up in Ohio going to Arizona. Preferably direct, door to door. Have a quote from Passport so far but I’ve read reviews they have taken up to three months to deliver a car. Are there any carriers that are preferably. Hoping to get it home as soon as possible. Thanks!
Make sure you ask Intercity about specific delivery date information. Late arrival is the one issue I have been told about them by a close friend that knows.
We used Intercity for 15 years. Hundreds of trips not a single issue. Best of all they didn't rearrange cars between stops when requested.
I've used Intercity several times, and they always dropped off when they said they would. The problem for me is that they typically take a long time to make the pickup. On average they pick up about a month after booking the trip. Part of the problem I learned a year ago is that I live in Denver, and they and all other truckers hate to drive through the Rockies so they avoid Denver whenever possible, preferring the southern east-west routes especially in winter months. Shipping between Florida and So Cal is a breeze.
Just used Intercity last month from Cali to NJ which took 9 days. Driver provided excellent communication and updates while in transit. He accommodated my schedule for delivery. All the cars in the enclosed trailer were also covered.
Id.pass.on reliable. Months. No actual pick up dates. They will truck it to their warehouse and hold it... Then build a load around it and then reload the car on another truck. Too much on and off. Too much time and way too much money for that kind of service.
I would always use a well known company and book a transport with them. Never book a job through a broker who will search for the cheapest price and then your car is delivered by any Joe transport company. I have purchased only 1 car in my life where it needed to be transported (bought in Chicago and I live near Seattle) and the car arrived with damage. The driver of the truck said he didn't do it and the broker agreed with the driver. That is when I learned my lesson about using a company with a good reputation. The dealer and I split the cost to repair the damage and we moved forward. I hope your experience is a good one and your car is delivered in the same shape it was when you inspected and purchased it. I went with Select One; they were great. I found Reliable not very reliable, at least not in communications; they never got back to me
I did! PPI checked out great! The huge issue is getting it home. I’ve called everybody, Intercity, Reliable, Passport, etc. Nobody can bring until the new year and everywhere has quoted me “realistically 8 weeks”. I have a 27 foot snowmobile/car hauler of my own. I can go get it myself if it will make the ramp.
Reading the reviews, they all have good/bad reviews but Intercity seems to be the one that comes the most highly recommended. The problem is the wait time!
I’m thinking my best bet may be driving out there and bringing in back. I have a large enclosed trailer. I don’t want to wait up to 8 weeks!
Just a fyi - every time I have moved a car Intercity has told me 8 weeks and then after a week they call and say "we are good to go if you are" .. I know that is a long shot but just figured I would tell you
