Is Viola Hong Kong a triple layer paint? Can it only be specced on Atelier or TM allocations? Has there ever been a quadruple or higher layer paint? VHK paint on the F8 Spider-stunning or an abomination?

Which of these 3 paints would look best on the F8 Spider? Rosso Coburn, Blu Elettrico or Viola Hong Kong?

    Any replies appreciated.

Actually I had a stripe ordered with the car, but Ferrari forgot to paint it. Just as well because the paint tell the whole story..........

A majority of the Pista builds seem to feature some sort of stripe livery so no stripe is a bit rare. With such an amazing paint as you say just as well to let the tri-strato giallo tell the whole story. Thank you for sharing that Italian beauty!

Much as I am in the 'blue' camp that Rosso Coburn has a really intense energy to it that just draws attention endlessly...

Do you guys know what is the thickness of 3 layer paint in micrometers? I have around 350μm and wondering if it is original. I bought preowned car. Thanks

Does anyone know if giallo triplo tristrato is mica or metallic?

    Can you define the differences?
Metallics have tiny flakes of metal suspended in the paint, hence the name. The flakes are larger. My understanding of a 'mica' is the flakes are much much smaller.

Mica pigments are a mineral and give a pearlescent appearance to the coating. Metallic coatings are aluminum metal flakes and have a higher degree of reflectance. Their random orientation within a paint film creates a glitter affect by reflecting or bouncing off incoming light in different directions.

    Is that your definition?
Given that definition, I would classify the Tri-Coat yellow as a mica paint.

    My understanding:

    - Metallics are flakes
    - 'Mica' are spheres

Both surely very small but not sure how sizes compare.

This I have read several times over the last years around here in Fchat.

So would the mica have a more chameleon style to the refractions?
