Not sure how many of you are in this same boat but I officially cancelled my 296 and got my deposit refunded after seeing the car in person. I just can't get behind the styling the car possess which I understand is super subjective. For me, the F8 is a stunning creation from nearly every angle and that impression was with me from the very beginning. The 296 (and SF90) require me to do a ton of squinting and reassurance mentally to get behind the styling cues and eventually it was too much back and forth to go forward with my order.

I am very curious if I am alone here (I did a quick search) or if many of you are in the same boat. I noticed F8 prices keep rising and wonder if that is a contributing factor to the market insanity.

You're not alone. I'm exactly in the same situation (from a taste POC). I own a 458 Spider and grew up loving the Pininfarina design (starting with the 355). The F8 is the only modern Ferrari I TRULY like. I do like the Roma, but I'm also doing that squinting and reassurance you mentioned. Same for SF90 and 296. I really WANT to like them, but in the case of the 296, I can't get my head to like the back, specially the lights. Too far a departure from my previous 45 yrs of Ferrari design...

If the situation allows it and money is not an object on e day, I've made up my mind: Keep the 458 forever, go for an F8 (over any other of the current models), and maybe a Roma as a DD.

You are not alone. I thought about it until I went to the unveiling. No comparison in my opinion. The F8 surpassed the 296 in most of my comparison metrics.

I see the 296 next week at mylocal dealer. Just from photos there are things I like…not love and other part of the design I definitely do not like. I’ve seen a few SF90 in person and like some of it but again there are things I do not like at all.

This is a first for me since I like all my 488 a hole lot and I love the looks of the F8, love the 458 all the way back to when I was a kid and the 308 came out.

Similar situation, though I had not formally placed my order yet. I still think the vast majority of the market is unaware that the 296 is the replacement for the F8. I feel there's a pretty good chance that we are sitting in a great position with our cars, even if a decent ADM was involved.

It is not a light decision to spend $300k+ on a car, and to do so, the manufacturer must be overwhelmingly convincing in their offering. With the 296 GTB, I can only speak for myself, but Ferrari failed to convince me and I will not be a buyer. If the 296 becomes the platform for future generations to evolve from, then Ferrari has lost me.

This is just my opinion and cars are Just as subjective as who you choose to date and marry.

But to approach it from a different perspective - as a 458 Italia owner:

If I told you I loved the Beatles. You might say that the production of later bands and albums are superior in every way and there is no comparison to how the guitar and drums sound these days when comparing to those old recordings.

    I would tell you…

    It’s about the music.

Don’t let the mind question what your heart knows.

Ferrari knocked it out of the park with the Roma, then they totally diverted with the 296.

There is no coherent design language across models, they might as well be coming from different design teams and different manufacturers.

want to like a smaller "fun" mid engine ferrari so bad - but the styling is ....cant! i knew this car was launching and waited, and as soon as i saw it.....I called my dealer and said "is it too late? i want a f8 spider"

i cant believe ferrari will let the 296 fail so im sure we will find that the fun is VERY FUN and the targa/spider will be great.....i really hope so and the folks who want NEW or track time lovers/new tech folks will save this platform.

i want ferrari to do well but it will w/o my support of the 296

The Roma is absolutely boring to drive …for a Ferrari… they didn’t knock it out the park imo.
The Roma’s button and ergonomics are also super poor so I will disagree with you on that one;)

I have an F8 and SF90 Spider on order. The 296 has grown on me but I’m still not convinced. If I have to talk myself into the styling then it’s probably not for me. The SF90 isn’t the traditional beautiful Ferrari design of old but I like it a lot and hence why I ordered it.

The next 12 months will tell us a lot about future design and the company’s direction among other things.

Feeling the same here regarding the 296. To my eyes, the F8 is the most beautiful Ferrari of late. And I chose it over the SF90 mainly due to styling.

I believe it! Regulations are moving so fast it’s forcing manufacturers to move along the tech at an unprecedented pace. Many won’t realize it cuz we are in the moment, but a lot of these cars are end of an era.
