Looking for a nice model of this one. The BBR is about half the price on an auction site, the Amalgam I'd order from them. Looks like the Amalgam is nicer, but worth the extra $500+??

thanks in advance for any thoughts! There are also some "AB Models" of this car, never heard of them before.

BBR only makes the P3; I bought several of the AB model P4s, they are exactly the same as the Amalgam , only much, much less expensive and more of a variety, Amalgam only offers the #21.

I should have written P3/P4 in this case, you're right. There is a heck of a price difference between AB and Amalgam, really no big difference in quality??

Unlike their 1:8 scale product line Amalgam subcontracts their 1:18 scale models to a factory in China, AB models uses the same factory.

ALL of Amalgam's 1:8 production models are made in China. In their factory.

Buy the BBR P3, unless you like the Amalgam display. Quality is not any better, and IMO absolutely not worth the substantial price difference. Go with the BBR model.

I have the GMP P4, which I bought when they were still in business, and I like it just fine. How do you think it compares to the models mentioned above?

All opening features, that's the good part. Quality, mediocre!

Unfortunately in many areas most all GMP models (1:43, 1:18, 1:12, and 1:8) suffer in terms of quality, fit of parts, and detail. But on the plus side... as noelsairplanes mentioned, they do have opening features.

No, the Jouef is a very crude model compared to the gmp, nothing to do with the other.

Whilst it's true that the Jouef is crude, I actually find that they display better from a distance than the GMP does. There's something about the proportions of the silhouette that looks 'right' to me, whereas I'm always aware that the GMP is a model at any distance. The GMP does look great opened up and close up though.

The Jouef casting is also available under the 'Eagle's Race' brand.

The paint on my GMP P4 is just fine. The only problem is that the front end bodywork will not stay in place on the model.
