My 2 cents for Red Bull pitting Max and putting on the softs and Mercedes not pitting Hamilton. As has been said Mercedes preserved track position. For Red Bull WCC was already won by Mercedes and P2 for them in WCC could not be taken away from them. This leaves WDC, P2 was not what Max or Red Bull wanted so they just went all out for P1 if the gamble did not pay off and Max finished lower then P2 then it did not matter. I honestly believe if Max finished P3, P4 or lower it would be the same for him he did not win the WDC. In the history books he would have been the runner up in terms of points. So they went for broke. I would have done the same, give it all for P1. Hamilton on used tyres did do some purple sectors towards the end so he can tyre manage, probably the best at tyre management. And no I am not a Hamilton fan but I acknowledge his driving greatness he is one of the best of all time. As for GOAT there cannot be a GOAT as each era is different. With 2022 we will see who comes out of the blocks strong in the new era of F1 they may very well become the greatest for this new era and then we will go into a new era of heroes and villains. Hopefully the heroes will be our Red Team. Forza Ferrari.

I think @ktu should have been banned for a much worse offense: saying that “Kelly Piquet doesn’t have a body, doesn’t have curves. “

    Lewis had the faster car.

Looking at the onboards of both cars the tire advantage was obvious. Lewis driving the illegal faster car would have beaten Max.

The real strategy error was MB should have brought a couple extra suitcases of $$$$ to continue to get favorable rulings.........

Party engine for Hamilton now retired. There will be no checks nor sensors fitted to check that operating limits and flow rates are within the regulation parameters. Mission accomplished.

If Max had Ferrari's 2019 pre FIA sensor power plant now that would have provided epic races throughout the season with Hamilton.

People are going to argue about this one until the cows come home, but I agree that the right call was made to let them race. Nobody other than Hamilton fans wanted to see the race ended under a safety car. There is a lot of controversy about having only certain cars un-lap themselves under the SC, but again, I agree with the FIA and the stewards on this matter--the point of letting cars un-lap themselves is so that they don't affect the race at the front. If letting only a few cars do so means they can finish the race under racing conditions, then the right call was made, IMO. It's also certainly preferable to having the cars hold station, which while pleasing Hamilton fans, would've been nonsensical and possibly the first time I can recall that lapped cars weren't allowed to un-lap themselves under the SC. Perhaps in the future they could add a rule that any race that would normally end under a SC should be extended for an additional three laps once the track goes green.

With that said, I do understand and agree that there needs to be consistency in the rules. Perhaps in the offseason, F1 and the FIA need to look at how the rules are written to leave them less open to interpretation, but I think the biggest issue is the lack of consistency from the stewards. Penalties need to be applied equally and fairly. The damn white line needs to be the track limit at every corner of every track. This stuff isn't rocket science. Perhaps they need to have a panel of full time stewards that will apply the rules the same way at every race.

I got two weeks for calling him delusional 1 time, my first offense. He calls someone dummy 3 times and he gets 2 days?

    Inconsistent as the FIA.

The only drivers/teams with a legitimate complaint are those behind any of the remaining 3 back markers who were not let through.

They are the only ones whose race “may” have been affected by Masi not following the procedures done throughout the season. The only ones.

Had Masi not allowed the back markers through RB and not MB would truly have a legitimate complaint.

Alonso’s radio messages say it all…..

Mercedes strategists had 2 chances to get it right--they blew it twice.

Lewis had the faster car, but the safety car with 5 laps to go and not pitting was a sure way to lose.

I congratulate Max, I lament with Lewis, I cast shame upon Mercedes strategists.

If a race were to be extended by a specific number of laps due to these circumstances, the regulation could just state that the cars need to be fueled for race distance +X laps. Sure they cars will end up carrying a little extra fuel for the vast majority of races, but I doubt it would make a huge difference if we're talking an extra 2 or 3 laps.

It makes a difference. Sometimes they'll plan for a SC and if none comes they have to conserve fuel at the end. We've seen people run out of gas after the finish on the way back to the pits.

I didn't call another member dummy. If you read my post, I was refering to Masi. I don't have a history of calling members names.
