Hi All, does anyone have any info on Ferrari that were owned in Kenya please. I am told two Greek brothers with the surname Houry each owned a 365 in Kenya in the late 1960s. It seems one was a coupe and the other possibly a convertible - Both were RHD. The possible convertible was silver grey with light grey upholstery, it was later owned by a Mr. Lees and sold to or through Maranello Concessionaires around 1970. It possibly had a KKT prefix registration.

Any details would be most welcome please.

    Many thanks Wayne

Not my photos, found them on Pinterest and posted so they would remain as reference and not disappear.

Do we think tht is the 4 cam (09261) Mark referenced?
Difficult to determine if the raised bonnet section is there on the image.

I was in Kenya in the 1990s, and given the state of the roads then I can't imagine driving a 365GT over there. But maybe they were better in the 1960s.

    I wondered about that too.

I have seven 275 GTB's as having been in Africa at one point or another:

7699 RHD Short Nose that was given a Long Nose at some point. I think the car in the photograph looks like it has the larger rear window. If so, it rules out this car.
8179 RHD Long Nose Alloy bodied and as such would have a more oval grill aperture which it still has.
8155 LHD Long Nose Alloy. Same problem as above.
    8877 LHD Long nose Steel
9261 RHD 4 Cam. New in silver. I agree there is no sign of the raised bonnet.
9737 LHD 4 Cam and not converted to RHD until it was here in the UK.
10861 RHD 4 Cam sold new tax free to a Mr A Kotze. I have assumed he was South African, but the car did turn up later with Luchano El Commana, Bramlej, Johannesburg. It was originally Rosso Cordoba.

That was as far as my thought process went.

Anyone got any eye pokes or corrections ?

10861 sold new by Hoare/MC to Coetze.
1981 to Giancarlo Comana, resident in Bergamo, Italy.
May 17, 1985 it was stolen from Comana in Antibes, South of France. One year later found in Paris and returned to Comana.

09737 was born LHD and sold new to Dr. Morettino in Italy who also owned 250 Lusso Speciale 4385 GT and brought both cars to Johannesburg/SA in 1968. In 1972 09737 was sold to Howard J. Cohen in Johannesburg and on 16 September 1980 sold to Roland Duce in the UK. Duce had it converted from LHD to RHD by DK Engineering. 1991 to Anthony Pozner/Hendon Way Motors, then to a Greek living in London and back to Pozner. Car involved in fatal accident 9 November 2006 in Spain. Later completely rebuilt and reconverted back to LHD. 22 July 2011 factory certificate of authenticity issued.

If you look at the shadow under car, you will notice the sun is at zenite, so there will be no shadow around the bulge at all. But if you look at the white glare across the hood, you will notice the center part is higher, so the bulge is there all right.

Sorry for missing posts 4 and 5 ! Impressive knowledge and tracking on Ferraris in Africa ! Today, I assume that South Africa thanks to ex-Viglietti Motors is distributing Ferraris in SA and maybe in the neighbouring countries like Namibia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
