Just got my car off the Transport and the driver door won’t shut . The striker plastic is toast and I’ve ordered the parts from ricambi but is there a temporary solution to get the door shut to allow me to drive the car? Can that little striker piece be the sole reason it won’t latch at all? I feel like it would latch anyways but be loose. I just want to shake down my new car ‍♂️

    thanks for any help!

Check that the door latch hasn’t rotated and is keeping the door from closing. Worn plastic on the striker plate shouldn’t keep the door from closing. Can’t think of anything else that would keep it from closing. Or is the door closing but not latching shut? You can also wrap some electrical tape around the striker plate where the plastic was.

It’s just hanging there flopping open lol. I sprayed some WD40 in there and no luck. Lock acruators both make noise when applied, I’m just stumped

So it’s not catching the striker plate? I would wrap some tape where the missing plastic is as a first step as it sounds as if the door catch may not have a “signal” that it should rotate. Unless you can see that it is rotating.

yes exactly that, it seems like it’s not catching it at all. I don’t feel any resistance, it’s like there’s no catch plate at all

Sooooo, the door catches at the front of the striker plate. There’s usually plastic at the back remaining after the plastic at the front is gone. Is there any remaining that you can slide forward to see if it works as a temporary fix?

Also, if you want original style (with the plastic) striker plates you can order them from an Alfa place in the U.K. for $25 each delivered. Part number 50509788. I don’t think I can post a link since they aren’t a supporting vendor.

When the nylon sleeve went on mine i turned a nylon tube and then split it along its length and clipped it over the steel, saves buying complete bit

What size tubing and where did you buy it? Sounds like something to keep around for when my sleeve goes on my car.

The replacement ones I bought from Ferrari came with metal sleeves. I read those might be hard to find due to logistic issues.
