Yes, here is their site https://themotorenclave.com/ The owner Brad just completed a similar project in Michigan and he’s excited about Tampa. They had a Christmas party a few weeks back which we attended before making a final commitment, and we got a really good feeling. Met the contractor (drives an 812 SF), the architects, and ironically, our neighbor who purchased the adjacent unit. He also has the F8S on order so we had an immediate bond. In the ideal world, I’d do exactly what you’re doing, but TBH we have enough going on, as my wife wants to do an event center out on our farm here. And I’m trying to simplify things a bit, having just sold a petroleum/c-store/restaurant business in NC (it was a great 12 year ride!). As this is Florida and we don’t have great twisty roads, I consider this to be a great way to access a track and have some fun with like-minded folks.
Wow! I’m super jealous. I would love to have close access to something like that. Will you be on the track? Some of these designs are really cool. I fell into a deep worm hole looking at all the 360 tours… https://themotorenclave.com/the-lifestyle/ Really interesting use of space and design elements: https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=SaRE1vvhfyN https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=3296e3LdncC https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=xMvzYd3YqUM
Great minds think alike,. I liked those as well. Im thinking I might need to get a designer involved for my space once its framed. I like my concepts but just need to see how it all works out.
Let me know if you track down a good “garage designer”. Eventually I will have my project through the permitting process and will be officially underway like you.
Right now I’m using the pics I posted earlier. I want an. Office/lounge vibe- not necessarily a garage vibe. But things are always evolving. The projector/tv on the back wall. God knows what other idiotic ideas im gonna come up with.
At this point in my life I’d rather hire a skilled designer. I’m a pretty decent scientist but a terrible artist. I can’t even select paint colors. We’ll be meeting up early next year and keep you informed. And yes, the STO will see track time - coming soon! I’ve hired out a private instructor for the FIRM on 10-Jan and Sebring 30-Jan. Let’s see, once and for all, what all the fuss is about. Whooopee! Will pass on the names of the crew that did many of the Michigan fit outs. I’ll PM both you guys.
@select32 on Instagram has one of the coolest garage's I've seen - some inspiration here.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Happy New Year everybody. We are going to be at 2 months of moving dirt on Sunday the 9th. Really nothing too exciting to show but I’ve got a more firm schedule from our builder. He thinks at this pace the pad will be done and footings in place by mid April. After that it’s fairly straightforward and 12-14 months of build time. We hit some hard rock during the dig which took some extra time to clear but all seems to be going smoothly now. Going for a site visit and I’ll post some updated photos Friday. Making progress. Slowly but surely!
~ 6 months just to flatten the area and lay the slab ? Is that normal for the Camelback homes ? Yikes ! MDS
Our lot was literally the side of the mountain. No access. 3 different builders told us 4-6 months of lot prep. So I’m not surprised.
Damn! They are moving a lot of dirt. I’m shocked it’s only gonna take them 6 months to flatten the pad. The wall of dirt/rock that you see on the left is 20 feet high. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No basement. It’s a 3 level house but no basement. I think I posted the plans on the first page. Originally the entire lower level was going to be my office and showroom but that plan changed and evolved into what it is today.
Update: was at the lot today- damn have they moved a ton of dirt. Got my first bill of overcharges for hard dig. 22k. Lots of hard rock they are having to hammer through. But making tons of progress. Initial grading done in 2 weeks- first set of footings go in 2nd week of February. Then moving more dirt as they continue to put in the retaining walls. We are hoping for a slab by May and then we start going vertical with the framing and steel. Lots of progress but lots more to do.
Might want to wait a few weeks then before you take the yellow GT3 up there ….. This will be a great thread as things progress … Congrats MDS
It’s been a month or so- lots of progress being made. Hundreds and hundreds of dirt have been hauled away. Retaining walls starting to go in. Pad is starting to go flat. I think 2 more months and we will be close to starting framing. The view is incredible! Staying at “Aloft” on Camelback - since Jen is sick and we have a lazy day anyway, I think I’ll walk down and look up - see if I see any activity …. MDS
No - the gate was open but didn’t think I was suppose to be up there So ironic that the first time I was in AZ we hiked that trail 20 or so years ago …. Your yellow GT3 will look great heading up the hill MDS
