We had Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve visitors, a flock of 12 wild turkeys. Big birds, 15-30 lbs each. A real success story for Tennessee since they were pretty much gone a couple of decades ago. Stocking program was so successful that around 30,000 birds per year are harvested with no impact on overall population.

That is excellent. Wild turkeys are cool (if a bit dumb at times). Have a bit of a warm (43F) and partly cloudy day here in southern NH today. Enough to take the car out. I'm getting a bit better at driving this beastie each trip. It is a bit of adaptation. Left foot braking keeps me from continuing to reach out with that leg for the clutch pedal. And tell me if I'm wrong here but it seems to much prefer shifting at 5k RPM rather than short shifting at 3500. Smoother, and a more positive run through the gear set.

Happy New Year's, all. Stay safe and have a great evening and even better year to come.

Eric- If you shift at 3500 rpm, a slight lift or feathering of the throttle will make for smoother shifts. More so in the lower gears than the higher ones.

It's a little too late now for "Merry Christmas", but just in time for Happy New Year! I normally don't do New Year's resolutions, but this year I resolve to friggin' drive my 550 A LOT more than I did last year. Geez, life is way too brief to not enjoy these glorious cars as much as freakin' possible! HNY, folks...and get out and DRIVE!

Terry, I've been lightly rolling out of the accelerator for lower rpm shifts and that does help. Takes a light touch to find the balance. Interesting dependence between rpm at shift point and throttle position for best shifting judged either by smoothness or time. Always appreciate your insights. I'm also letting the car teach me what it wants. The 456 has lots of torque yet never really felt like the rear wanted out from under you. The 575 has enough more power that the rear has a bit of that "wild and free" feel to it and needs thoughtfulness on power application. One needs to be fully engaged!! The 456 was a significantly more relaxed drive. Probably as it should be....BTW, I've tried to call German Motorwerks but haven't made contact yet. Holiday week and all that.

    Happy New Year, Terry!!

Good day Taz: I am the original owner of my 2006 Superamerica bought from Ferrari in Sarbrucken Germany. I am considering having it converted to US spec in Baltimore maybe next summer. My vin is ZFFGT61B000144849. I am in Cape Coral FL and I have my car in locked security in Germany with no access to the car until I return next summer Covis allowing. I need to know the build number and the date of completion in order to determine if it is affordably practical to have it converted. There is a critical date after which the passenger front seat must be replaced at a sky high price. Do you have a source of this information ? I am not sure if this is the proper way to contact you . Thanh you for any guidance. Oscar

Oscar- 575 SA SN 144847 has AN 62145 and was built in October 2005. Yours should be pretty close to that. No clue on any requirement to replace seats.

Thanks Taz: Its possible it was finished the same day. I don't have access to the car since it is in Germany. I will ask a neighbor to let himself into my garage and take a picture of the AN. In that time frame Oct 2005 I toured the factory and if I recall the guides comments they were completing about 25 cars per day and I saw several SA's parked outside ready for shipment. Quite a sight. I will call JKT and follow up. Apparently the passenger seat after a certain date has to have an air bag which will recognize a small passenger. Kind of like the ugly 6 MPH bumpers and TPMS . Thank you for your response I was not quite sure how to post the request. Oscar

Oscar- Note all US Superamericas were 2005 Model Year, even some produced in 2006, but marked Dec 2005 on their data plates. This was likely to get around the new occupant recognition requirement likely in effect for 1 January 2006 or for Model Year 2006, not sure which.
