So I’m having F1 pump issues and am getting ready to replace the relay. It’s not a CS, so I suppose I have the 30 amp relay installed. The car has 12K on her and was running fine until yesterday.
After car sits a few minutes, the pump can be heard running when the door is open and I am able to change gears. But flashing trans light starts flashing a couple of minutes later.
Has anyone used a solid state replacement like the Scud lng Swiss unit?
I had read that the later year models had a relay upgrade, anyone know anything about that?
    Thanks in advance!

Have you checked the fluid level? Mine will do the same (99 360), if the fluid is low. Bought the car with 22k on it and I'm sitting at 48k now. No issues with the pump (knock on wood) so far. There are a lot of posts about the Scud ING relay and I'll just leave that alone. I do have it but I'm not sure if it really makes a difference. Mainly did it just to replace the mechanical relay with electronic.

Does pump sound like it is strained .. how long does it run for ..how long between cycles when just sitting with key on

Was the accumulator ever changed ? That maybe your problem but definitely need more analysis.. changing the relay is always a good idea regardless

So the pump sounds like it always had.
Pump runs for 8-12 seconds when the door is opened for the first time. Subsequent door opening after initial startup result in no or very little pump running time.
Think I still have the original accumulator.

Assuming like the 430, i would pull the fuse for the F1 relay and then pull the relay, have a look at the relay pins for heat marks . If showing then clean them up and spray some contact cleaner in the base. A new relay for a 430 is about £10 so a cheap swap to see if it helps

So I took a look at the relay and it appears to be a thirty amp.
    Condition looks good.
Could I have a pump that is failing as it gets hot? Image Unavailable, Please Login

So I warmed up car and cycled Thru gears with no issues.
I have replaced F1 motor relay.
Dealing with a touch of COVID so I haven’t taken her out yet.
The diagnostic tool doesn’t read transmission codes so I’m not sure if any have been thrown
    I’ll keep you posted

    Hope you recover quickly ..

Try the various TCU s listed on tool for the 360 and then try the 430 tcu 231

Also ..try running the health rpt as well ..that goes thru every system ..unless you did that already

    Hope that helps

    Took her out today.
We drove her for about 45 min and got her nice and warm.
Drove hard at times and failed to duplicate flashing trans light.
I have replaced the relay with Ricambi 40amp.
Car is in line to get into Ron’s shop here in ATL. Going to have him check everything out transmission wise.
    Will keep you updated.

So a follow up to flashing trans warning light.
Took car to Ron in Atlanta, turns out lots of metal shavings in the F1 system filters.
Turns out to be bad pump, rest of system checked ok. Ron inspected entire system and flushed it a couple of times.
    Thanks for all the inputs!
Certainly nice to have Ron Reinke in Atlanta!

    Great

My theory is that the original relay was bad and got suck in open and closed position ...when it got suck in closed position it caused pump to overheat and fail .. probably over a course of time ...multiple times ..

    Just my thought

Either way glad you are all set
