This is the time to sell in my opinion for scarcity of good cars and high demand. My gut feeling is normalization eventually closer to MSRP but I am no expert. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I wonder how inflation will impact “normalization” with the dissolution of the buying power of the dollar…can we really go back to pre-pandemic buying power? Also as previously mentioned, the advent of the encroaching EV cars might make these cars more desirable.
There are 40% more dollars around than there were pre-pandemic. It wouldn't be unreasonable to take whatever you thought the long term target was pre-pandemic and multiply that number by 1.4. I'm no economist, but I'd guess that any non-income producing asset should be up ~40% in value. Income producing assets (stocks, real estate, etc) shouldn't have changed much unless their ability to produce income has gone up or down.
It possible that some of us who chime in are Pista owners and want confirmation that our asset will be worth more. There may be some bias there, maybe not. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Just saw this thread. Highest bid was 431k and went unsold. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/pcarmarket-offers-5k-mile-2019-ferrari-488-pista.652061/#post-148285401
Not really,I pay cash for all my cars with the notion that it’s depreciable asset; but lately the car market has been phenomenal and the value of a car (the last of a special V8 series) is interesting to watch.
If the Pista was numbered I believe the values would be sky-high. Not knowing if there are 2000 or 5000 out there will always keep them within a certain range. The nicer the spec, the better the value. Regardless, IMO it's one of the best looking cars Ferrari has ever made.
TM car from Ferrari’s site, so I presume offered as of now. Not sure how well the listings are curated/updated to reflect the real world.
The Pista prices drive me nuts. Mostly because I can’t rationalize spending that much on a car. But my god is it a great car! Someday…
I've been saying the same thing about 911s (air-cooled and newer GTs), CGT, Ford GT, etc. (It's everything 4-wheeled these days; same thing happening with motorcycles?) The coulda-shoulda-woulda hurts me right here. I tell myself that prices won't come down. That way, when they do, my rationalizing-to-purchase pathway will be seamless.
Any idea what the sticker was on it? Whatever it was probably the highest a TM 488 could get...looks amazing. One of my favorite Fcars for sure. $800k ask maybe not too far from original build (600s?).
I don’t know if this car has sold or not, but I have seen this car in the metal and it is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. It’s really one-of-a-kind. To be honest 100 grand here or there is irrelevant, if you are in the market for a Pista there is really no car more spectacular. And no the car isn’t mine and I have no skin in the game!

I dig the doc wallet ( I think someone posted it in another thread) in matching materials. One of my few regrets with my pista build is not doing similarly. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The cost shouldn’t be dependent on whether they made 3000 or 5000. The real issue is how many are on the market when someone wants to buy one.
Limited cars coupled with cars for sale will really drive price especially if you know the qty made. I think the outlier here is the 16M which I believe will someday be worth 7 figures but about half that today.
That’s a funny way to look at it. CGT’s were sitting at $750k with 2,000 miles now a 8,000 mile car is $1.5m and a 12,000 mile car is $1.35m. I say, better that the prices keep moving up to and this allows you to actually drive it!
Thanks! So it has carbon wheels rather than gunmetal painted? The photos in the listing look like carbon wheels with yellow center caps, but the delivery photos MMC posted back in 2019 it has metal wheels with carbon fiber center caps. It's in the link I posted with the document jacket here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/488-pista-picture-thread.569928/page-305#post-148263427 For the build plaque, is "CUPC carbon fibre hub caps" referring to the carbon fiber center caps seen on the delivery photos on the metal rims or CF wheels with yellow center caps? Are the cars shipped with metal wheels and CF ones "dealer installed" in case worry it gets damaged in transit with straps? Btw, I noticed in that document jacket photo the front luggage compartment carbon fiber option...all plastic is replaced with CF. I've seen that before on a Speciale...crazy idea but it's amazing. Btw Happy New Year everyone!
If I recall correctly, there was an interval early in the pista cycle with less carbon rim availability, so other rims were shipped installed w the carbon rims following. Also, some purchased both carbon and non-.
