Who was the buyer? a funds company?..... the same car will be for resale next, two or three years . It s become a boring market. Funds companies must play with Bitcoins
ONLY 6 bids???! Is that correct? and how many bidders? only 2 or 3? on a one-of-kind beauty like this. with over 2,700 billionaires in the world! seems odd. (I realize the sale price is at the top of the market, but people are paying more than that for tear-downs in San Fran ) .
Quite the opposite, the buyer is a young collector who plans to drive the car quite a lot based on his conversations with us. This will be his first Ferrari, quite a way to start.
Unlike existing online auction websites which are not specialized to this level of the market, we have a starting bid amount. On this car, the starting bid was $2,250,000, which weeds out any bidding activity below that level. I can say that each of our bidders on the Enzo were serious collectors, and we had close personal dialogue with all but one of them (the lowest bidder @ $2.6M). The white glove, hands on way in which we handle our auctions is likely what resulted in very intentional bids from buyers (and a World Record sale), as opposed to a lot of back & forth as is often displayed on other venues. All that said, we would be happy to entertain a bidding war on our current car available, this beautiful ex-Briggs Cunningham Miura P400 https://www.sackeyandco.com/details/1967-lamborghini-miura-p400
The buyer paid in cash with a bank wire transfer. We had @ 9 registered bidders, 2 of whom actually had the car professionally inspected, this out of 17 people who registered their interest in the car on our platform.
I just want notice the effect of funds companies in auctions in my post. I have notice many cars for sale, stocked and re-sale later. When you said: "young collector" and "3.7M$" Looks the son of magnate of funds company?
Nope. Self-made entrepreneur, nothing to do with a funds company or financial business whatsoever. Many cars are sold and re-sold later, this is the way the car market works in general.
Correct, here's the car arriving last night. 135872's new owner plans to drive to as The Commenadatore intended.
