Chas, can you post a few details about what was done in the rebuild, especially if new parts were procured, and what the cost of the project was? I have a tired motor in my 365 GTC. Thanks!

    Hi Don

we did a complete rebuild, top and bottom ends. I bought the car knowing that cylinder #3 had a score in it…..I drove the car for about a year then decided to tear it down. All new parts etc etc + new fuel lines.

cost was about 40k give or take and I was without the car for about a year. I should have it back mid Jan.

Thank you very much, Chas, for the details about the engine rebuild. Please update this thread if you will with your assessment of the rebuilt motor after you get the car back and have put some miles on it.

Did it require replacement of valves, pistons, rods?
Did you need to overbore the liners or replace liners?

Modern pistons I assume, a bit of "new technology" ? Other upgrades?

    Yes correct, modern pistons.
All new fuel lines, pretty much everything new. Also did clutch an TOB while we were at it.

Cylinder # 3 was scored so we bored all 12 out and went with slightly larger pistons.

Please double check. 0.05mm is just this side of nothing…and 0.05” is ~1.25mm, which is a LOT. 0.5mm is more plausible.

Did Motor Kraft do all the work? I’ve got 4.5 years until the kids are out of college and my 365 can get its engine rebuilt.

    Yes they did
My shop in Columbus Ohio (NJB Automotive) did the engine removal and install, also did all of the final touches as well as some upholstery work.
