I really hope you were on a racetrack or the autobahn. Pretty immature and dangerous to do on an public road where you could kill someone.

164mph at Sebring back straight before braking for turn 17 which goes down to about 68mph.

I did 170 in my McLaren 570s on the back straight; the 488 has more in it than that and better downforce. 17 is really 2 turns and the first one you can easily take at 110. But, 168 coming into it is just fine if you don't know 17 in your sleep.

Yeah I’ve been driving Sebring since 2005. I’m going off gps mph not my cars mph which was higher. I also was doing 7/10ths so apex at 16 was lower. 1st having the 488 at the track. I did 4 laps and put the car away. Brakes are not built for the track. My Porsche GT3 brakes and feel is much better thus my confidence is not there and I’m not pushing to,prove anything so that was it for the Ferrari…lol

Interesting…your McLaren is much faster than a IMSA GTLM and definitely a GTD. They are at 160-165. Ferrari 48k Challenge is 163 maybe a 165. What lap times are you turning?

Sebring is my home track. I miss tracking a lot like I use to. I need to rethink what I want to do…have a street car like my 488 or a track car.

I went back and looked at data and I was wrong about my top speed…it’s less. My t16 apex is 65 and track out exit 78 and top speed before brake into t17 is 158 and under the bridge t17 is 68 and the second bridge at exit is 105.

I was at 2:28 in my Porsche GT3 and went into 17 at 150. Although the McLaren was faster on the straights, it was slower by 3 sec for the lap. Got rid of it and went back to a GT3. Would not use the F8 as a track car. need to do to much to get the right setup. If I was to track again, I would get a dedicated car, probably a Porsche. As you know, it's all about the turns

There’s a vid posted on here somewhere with an F8 driver going 221mph on a two lane autobahn. Impressive performance from the F8 but absolutely crazy driving.

Yep…I was at 150 in my 2018 GT3. What a great car too. So we’ll built solid and tons of fun. Before that I had GTS and Carrera S all great cars.

    LOL!

This was an average of 300 miles in city driving too.

I have to say, I have done faster in my F12 and my GT3 RS. However nothing for me getting to 200 like the Pista happens in a flash!!

Aside from the 300 miles in city driving (pent up horses kicking in their stall), you are a lucky man (to have so many horses), CM!

I think it's really interesting to read these threads about high speed driving. There is such a difference in how thjngs are perceived between people in Europe with the Autobahn in the backyard, and people from oversea where high speed equals jail.

I recall a thread a few years ago where someone was going to a Vmax event or something, and there was all sorts of talk about how to prep for 200 mph within the US crowd. Meanwhile there was people from Germany talking about driving those speeds coming home from work.

Just goes to show how easily we get used to speed and power of cars, as soon as the speed and power is accessible.

Only a lowly 458 here, but on public roads I don't dare exceed 135mph indicated (which is probably 130mph). And that's only if it's a completely empty highway and the only one I have a chance of hurting is myself.

On the track the only track I've been to so far with the F car is Willow Springs. On the front straight I get up to 150mph indicated / 143mph GPS. It's still pulling but certainly not like it does at 60mph. I can't imagine what it's like to drive a hypercar that pulls well past 150mph.

I drive my 458 consistently at 165mph indicated on the straightaway coming out of Oak Tree at VIR. Above 145mph, the car does not feel “planted” and the front end has a floating-type feel to it, which I can only assume would be eradicated with a better aero package like on the Challenge car. For this reason, I typically will go 135-140mph on track and not exceed that, even if there is a straight away that would allow me to.

    Agreed.

I am not sure that the Autobahns will exist in the future though.
