Gives insight into what restorations are currently costing, perhaps this is "over the top, money no object", but there is no doubt that it is getting to become a very expensive undertaking.

This should add a "bottom" to "good to average cars", but then again, if you start with a bad example, or a "tired/good" one, the difference will be negligible; so the question is if it is worth paying a premium for a car that will end up being completely restored.

I‘m very curious to see at what price this one-off will be sold… actually it‘s not really my favorite design.

41421: Born as stock standard 400i, originally painted Marrone Colorado with Beige VM 3218 leather, completed 2 March 1982, and sold new in Italy.
Following some damage the car was rebodied by Michelotti and shown at the Torino motor show 1983.
Then sold to Saudia Arabia. Later in TX/USA, FL/USA, Kuweit, etc.

When the Meera was built it did not have a red interior, it had a blue interior.

How does one reach a bill of 200K plus?

    Engine and transmission 30K?
    Interior work 30K?
    Full paint 30K?
    Suspension, steering, brakes 20K?

Profile of the coachwork reminds me a lot of being a slightly larger mid-1980's Mazda Miata.

Really like the interior but it does not make up for the rear end of the car.

It's a pity that the futuristic original interior and instrument binnacle have been removed. Even the electric sunroof seems to have been sealed now. I guess it was deemed too expensive to get it all working as it should.

Here's how it looked in 2004:

    https://www.ronsusser.com/inventory/listing/1982-ferrari-400i-meera-s-one-off-michelotti-prototype/

The Meera originally had a cream cloth interior, but had been retrimmed in Nuvola blue leather by the late 1980s.

    Good day David,

Thanks for adding the original pics! Given how it originally looked now the current auction statement:

... makes sense, as I can see the monitor mounted in the lower portion of the passenger dash area. When I looked at the current interior pics, I could not see any monitor, unless it was mounted in the glove box area. If so, this would be a challenge, as 80's era (and older) monitors were still tube (CRT) style that need a lot of space for fitment.

Does anyone have any larger pics of the original dash, as I would be interested in seeing greater details of this area.

On a side note, this car's concept reminded me of the Ferrari Pinin that Pininfarina released a bit earlier (https://www.evo.co.uk/ferrari/203805/the-story-of-the-ferrari-pinin-pininfarinas-50th-birthday-present-to-itself). The Pinin was also based on the 400 (GT) and it, too, sported a modernized Dash, etc. The 80's were sure interesting times.

    Cheers,

    Sam

Thank you very much for sharing these additional photos. I agree the Michelotti interieur contributed a lot to the Meera´s peculiarity.

It might be interesting to know how the current interieur parts had been sourced: Restored from a donor car (which one?), or adapted from new old PF stocks, or entirely new production based on the original drawings?
I´d be surprised if it turns out to be the (restored) '82 factory interieur of 41421, spared for decades only to be re-used in the 2000s ...

+1 (that's what I had in mind -- the longish nose and the wide B-pillar between the side window and the sloping rear window):

I wonder what happened to the original interior? Hopefully it wasn't destroyed.
