I just ordered a 296 gtb and am looking for a 488 spider in the mean time. F8 spider are too expensive IMO. What do you think of this car? The car is local and building a solid relationship with dealer is part of the plan (important to me) 2017 - 329K - 8,471mi Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
IMO, this 488 will always look like someone else’s car… unless every spec on it hits you “just right”, and it really suits your personal tastes. Since you’re looking for a car to use while you wait for the 296, I assume that you’ll want to give up the 488 when the new one arrives… and I don’t see broad appeal (i.e. resale value) to that Spider. Given the price tag, I’m sure the current sales crew would love you if you pulled the trigger. But will that translate to a solid, useful relationship with the dealership? Dunno about that…
Removing the stripes and changing the seat belt color to black would definitely improve the look and enhance its future sales potential. That car is going to be a hard pass for many in its current state. I’d move on to something else.
⬆️⬆️⬆️ Agreed. If you did the changes mentioned above, it would make it more attractive now, and later IMO. The price is decent (in today’s market) if it’s a well documented, clean car. Never know about the market, and resale value by the time your 296 comes in, that’s a gamble….but having that relationship isn’t a bad idea.
Flip side. TM or Atelier? High MSRP Not COOKIE CUTTER red tan Make an offer reflecting value to you. May get high cost 488 as an interim car. Expect to take a hit but who cares and drive it all over. It is interesting. And not crazy priced in this market. Last question - do YOU like it ? It’s there because it doesn’t resonate with everyone but again who cares if you like it. Baller spec. Disclosure not my car and I think it is interesting and would drive it. I would offer 10%less and negotiate from there. Price is market right for this market. CHeck back in 4 weeks. Tech down energy strong. Mixed bag. Scott Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think your idea of getting at 488 Spider while waiting for the 296 is a great plan. If you love that one buy it, it will drive amazing. If not there are plenty of others, they are all badass.
Thanks for the advice - I will inquire about the strip - if it is a tm car it could be factory… If it’s after market it’s easier I actually like the yellow seatbelt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like it but with a red that matches the seats no? Anyways - spoke with dealer and the stripe is not oem - I would remove the stripe - I actually like the rest Will go check it out on Monday or Tuesday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That’s amazing if the stripe can actually come off if it’s a sticker or something. I’m surprised they haven’t taken it off already. It is a highly options car that will look completely different without the stripe. It’s a good price for a convertible and a highly option convertible all you’re giving is miles. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you ScottS. I just decided to start the process of becoming VIP and get special cars... I am probably going to order Roma and Portofino as well all with tailor made. Sounds like a fun process. I drove the Roma and frankly I was surprised by how good it drove... a great futuristic looking car -
My thoughts exactly. Not sure why the seller or dealer didn’t revert to 100% stock. Especially for such a potentially polarizing feature. -m
My dealer reached out and give me a few dates option for the tailor made appointment in New York, in June. I may do all the cars with the same spec, maybe even get a custom color... I have 6 month to think about it!
Tailor made is like wine. Sip. Enjoy contemplate. It’s more than colors. It’s your vision. My 812 GTS is like many, an homage to 70s classic. My SF90 is racer sport. And high tech. My 296 will be more of a departure again. To be determined It is addictive. Each time I get new colors and materials that I think will work next time. If I specked all the first I would not have been nearly as adventurous as I am now as well as learning from the others here and their experiences. Dreamlines, painted bumpers, matte CdF aluminum internals as Pierre taught me. Liveries. The possibilities and evolutions are astounding. The process is so much of the enjoyment. Don’t be hasty. Make a weekend and bring your notes. Cathy and the team will take good care of you.
I am sure Scott - I just hope I make good decisions - I can identify what universally looks good, but sometime I lack vision and creativity. I really want something just different enough but eccentric (not my personality). What I started doing is look for TM car pictures and save them to a folder - Some pictures I like (I just started a day ago)
It's interesting to observe the price of this car in the US, 329k$. The same car in the UK , at a Ferrari main dealer, would be around £180k, which at current exchange rates is about 243k$. A used F8 spider will cost about340k$ As far as that particular car is concerned, it does look a little like Stevie Wonder was the last owner.......
I really like white with Bordeaux interior - the aftermarket stripe is the issue. Colors are subjectives but white and red works well - may not be your taste...
That car is fine assuming the stripe can be safely removed. The seatbelts, if clean, add a bit of fun. After you get over 10,000 miles, there will be a bit of a psychological and price barrier.
As long as you avoid Ronald McDonald and his playhouse you’ll be fine. Enjoy and don’t worry. That kills the fun. I have purchased cars understanding that they are temporary and can and will be replaced. My latest azurro California 16m fell into my lap as I was chasing the market for a black/black 16m. I now understand how my former sales guy would refer to black black as boring. You get something from the difference and living with them. My colleagues refer to my car as Krishna Blue and that taught me something as well. In the end ours worlds and desires are fluid. Image Unavailable, Please Login Good luck. We’re here for you.
