I am looking at buying an F40 and being from Europe (living in the US) I have a couple of good options in Europe.

    I have a few questions:

Can anyone recommend a good broker/transport company?

Anyone with experience with the process can explain?

Will I be able to bring back the car to Europe if I move back at some point?

Use Martin Button of COSDEL in San Francisco.
Simply excellent when it comes to worldwide logistics of classic cars.

Where would you send the car for a detailed “PPI” for a car in France or Spain?
Would sending it to maranello be an option?
Does Ferrari factory have a good program for insuring the quality of a buy?

To the best of my knowledge the factory does not have an inspection program

For a thorough PPI you will probably find the best F40 knowledge in England Italy or Germany

Happy to be corrected on either

I am just worried to do it at the local Ferrari dealer - maybe the seller has a strong relationship with dealer etc.

I believe you are speaking of this car https://www.autoscout24.com/offers/ferrari-f40-no-cat-gasoline-red-43d2107c-448e-400f-8e97-fd2a5eca1e78

The Advert describes the car as:

    F40 built 10/1989
    24,000 km (14,912 miles)
    2 previous owners
    Classiche Certified

    The seller is/was:

    Maranello Service Srl
    https://www.maranello-service.it/
    Official Ferrari Service & Bodyshop
    Alessandro Peraro
    Via Degli Alpini, 2/4/6,
    26030 Calvatone - Cremona - CR, Italy
    +39 0375 615219
    +39 0375 97662

We checked this car out a few months back for a buyer and although it is a Lexan sliding windows car now, it appears that it was not born that way - Marcel can confirm.

Meanwhile value depends on many things:

    Original paint?
    Original interior?
    Brakes, turbos modified?
Service history complete from new with stamps in the warranty book?
When were the fuel bladders, cam-belts and tires last changed?
    How many owners?
    Etc, etc, etc.

i would say that price is about right for a car that checks the boxes that Joe gave you. if it does not check the boxes, then its too high.
then the shipping/handling/insurance will be $20k (by sea).
the import duty to the usa will be 2.5% of all that, so you end up landed right around $2-2.1 mil, which seems to be mkt.

but Joe will have a better handle on what mkt is today for that car landed into the usa.
    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/us-spec-f40-offer-price.649762/

conversely, there is a euro already in the usa that has about 35k km, and is around $1.7 mil - which is easier.

F40s are expensive now, so is not correctly checking the boxes, now more than ever you need someone who knows what they are doing to guide you.

^^ Agree it’s an arduous market now. Fortunately there’s loads of information out there to research and if someone decides they need/want a buyers assistant there are several to choose from worldwide.
