I recently purchased a new set of Michelin XWX 205x14 tires from Longstone Tyres. I've probably bought 20 sets over the years. When these arrived for some reason they seemed a little beefier. I mounted them and put them on the car and they seemed bigger. Then i TRIED to put the spare in the front well. No way it fits, at least an inch diameter too big. I emailed Longstone and they said I was the first to complain. I compared it to an old one I had laying around and sure enough this measures at least 1 inch bigger diameter. SOOOOO what to do??

Boy, that does look like a fatty. Put it side by side with a normal one to show the difference. How could Michelin mess that up?

"You're the first to complain" isn't an appropriate answer. Measure the circumference and compare to others - there shouldn't be much variance.

You have the wrong size tyres. The correct size for a Dino is 205/70 x VR14, not 205 x VR14 which will be bigger in diameter due to it being a full aspect ratio profile tyre. The 205/70 x 14 is a lower profile tyre. The tyres you have are for the 275 GTB/GTS and 330/365 GTC/GTS cars.

I have a 205/70 VR14 it's the same tire I have used for years. I measured it against an old tire I had and it is much bigger!

The new tyre is a 205 x VR14. Below is a snip from your second picture posted above.

They are the wrong size tyres and not the same as the correct 205/70 x VR14.

But these are the ones you've got. Different and the wrong size tyres. 205 VR14 is not correct and different from the correct 205/70 VR14.

My invoice shows 205/70 vr 14 so somebody screwed up. But you learn something everyday as I never even knew there was an R tire so never even dawned on me that it was different tire. Thanks for pointing it out!!

In this video, Dougal from Longstone tyres explains and demonstrates the difference between the incorrect tyres you have and the correct 205/70 VR14 for a Dino.

Ferrari Dino's use a 205/70VR14 tire which is a 70 series tire which means the sidewall is 70% of the width of the tire. Looks like you have a 205VR14 tire which is common on the Ferrari 275GTB/S & 330GTC/S's. a 205VR14 tire has an 80 series sidewall which is 80% of the tire's width thus a taller tire. The 205VR14 tire is roughly 3/4" larger in diameter versus the 205/70VR14.

Chassis number? 275 GTB/Cs had 15" wheels with Dunlop M series R7 tyres, so 205 VR15 tyres will not fit unless it was #09067 or #09085 or a short nose 275 GTB Competizione Clienti? ;)
