Has anybody done stainless/braided brake lines? Advisable?
Joe- Yup, mine are braided steel with a black polymer cover. They really firm up the brake pedal since all the fluid goes to the brake pistons and not to expanding the brake lines. Mine were Mov'It, but there are lots of other good ones probably easier to find.
Formula Dynamics in America had that kind of kit for the Maseratis. The brakes are the same from my understanding. Check it out!
Thanks, Terry. Will be doing a belt service in the spring and was planning to add these to the list. Excellent, thank you Erik!
hello anyone can help me to find the torque spec on the timing gear pulley ring nut ? thanks in advence
WSM says 118 nm for the ring nut fastening pulley, but not sure that is what you are looking for. That is a lot of torque.
Although this is a 575M thread, guessing my latest 550 repair applies. Replaced both fuel pump plates with new billet aluminum plates from Hill Engineering. One of the OEM plates developed a hairline crack which allowed about 8 gallons of gas to leak out onto the garage floor over the course of a week or so (most of it ran into a floor drain and fortunately none leaked into the trunk area). Ooof! Still waiting to receive wiring harness adapters to connect the OEM plugs to the two post connectors on the aluminum plates (I could cut the OEM plugs off and crimp on wire connectors, but I want to keep the stock wiring harness intact). Those look permanent, good job. 575M pumps are different, but externally very similar. No rubber on the bottom of the pumps. Our covers crack, too, but Ferrari's latest 575M pumps use a different plastic and so far no problems.
On the 550 it is in the front ride side. Need a good flash lite at just the right angle. View attachment 1421052 View attachment 1355656
Haven’t got a clue where attachment 1421052 came from. Never seen that before. Some sort of Gremlin Spam. Here is the other attachment that I sent with the reply which shows a closer view of the area. If you expand the photo, you can see the number. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I understand the old style firewall I.D. tags were discontinued in the late 60’s or there about. They were cool for sure, so when I decided to make up my Maintenance and Spare Parts books, I too went looking for the engine number. Low and behold page 1.4 in the owners manual illustrates the location but I still had to really look hard to get a good line of site on it. I may have posted this a while back, but just in case..2002 Vin 128452 Assembly 45620 RHD delivered into Singapore..Rosso Corsa over nero. F1.
Newbie to the 575M F1. I have driven it approximately 500 miles in the few weeks since arrival. Ambient temps have been in the 40-55 F range. The water and oil temps have been consistently maxed out in the 150 range. I wonder if the normal operating temps should be higher. On one occasion at a stop sign water was transiently 185-190, and then immediately back down to 150 range when underway.
Normal for a 575M in cool conditions. The cooling systems work very well while she is moving, although my oil temp usually gets up to 160 F after only a few miles and warms gradually from there. That is the second mark on the oil temp gauge. When stopped, the two fans kick in to keep the water temperature around 190F.
FWIW, my new to me 456 hadnt gotten the Oil temp to move much past the 100 mark this winter, even after a long idle and hard drives on cold days. It was to the point i figured the sender needed to be addressed. I finally sat in traffic on a warmer day and got the oil temp to reach the midpoint. The Coolant was warm, but stabilized at a safe temp. Once i was moving again, oil temp dropped well below mid point and coolant was about 190* Point being, it takes a while and a few factors for the oil to fully heat up
Just drove to Lime Rock (and back), total of 375 miles and I don't think either my oil or water temp ever really got full range. Course it was windy and cold the whole damn weekend. Got a little bit of hail on Saturday so the weather may explain much.
Where do you buy/acquire a work shop manual? I see posts Ricambi was selling them but don’t see them on the website anywhere. or how to get it otherwise? Have a 456GT, but seems the 575 WSM is what most are referring to.
I do, and have been referencing that as i can, but all the nice diagrams you post seem to have much better shop procedures than the 456. Plus my copy is missing nearly the entire section on 2.7 Motronic specific stuff, been making due off the 355 boards It seems like a lot of assumptions are needed to follow many of these procedures. As has been stated, it expects you to already know what you are doing. I can hold my own, but still getting up to speed on Ferrari specific techniques and nuances
