The enchanting and exclusive dinner on the Ocean Lawn at The Breakers on Friday, January 21, is open to everyone - to those who are participating in the Tour d'Eleganza, and to those who are enjoying all the other beautiful amenities at The Breakers and in Palm Beach that day.
This unique dinner experience, hosted overlooking the ocean at The Breakers, is available to purchase for those not on the Tour for $300 per person.
For Patrons, this dinner is already included in their dedicated package.
On Saturday, January 22, the menu of the Gala Dinner will feature exquisite dishes from the hometown of Enzo Ferrari: Modena. In collaboration with the Executive Chef of The Breakers, the Gala’s menu will be created by chef William, grandson of Cesira Fosatti, Enzo Ferrari’s personal cook back in the 1950’s. It will be a truly exceptional evening of Italian cuisine and wine in honor of Ferrari’s 75th anniversary. If you don’t have a patrons pass or a VIP pass, you can still purchase your ticket for the dinner at $680 per person.

Do you know how many 250 GTO's they're getting and which ones?

In the history of Cavallino, what are the most 250 GTO's that attended in a single year?

I have no idea but assume that 3527 GT of Dr. Workman might show up.
I understand that the factory will present their current model range and the 296 GTB will be the "new star" shown.
The Daytona SP3 will not be shown, that will be for Casa Ferrari at Pebble in August.
I also understand that awards will be given Saturday afternoon already (instead of Sat nite) and winners will drive their car over some sort of ramp with sponsor logo wall behind (a bit like at the Mille Miglia, I guess). Only top awards will be announced Sat nite.

Should IAC/FPA completely pull out of this event?

IMO, if the organization is being told what judges can/cannot participate, and the suggestion of at least one
judge to add - an outsider or a participant wanting his car judged begins to question the independence and integrity of such an organization.

Seems allowing the event owners to have input on how/who the independent judging body
conducts its business should be seen as undue influence.

IAC/FPA should see this as a shot across the bow and stand firm.

I received the same email this morning.

$680 for dinner, I don't think so. Even if the tortellini are handmade by someone who never met Enzo Ferrari.

That is exactly right. There are people bringing their cars there to be professionally judged. The professional judges do have an obligation to be there.

It is unclear how many Tortellini one gets for $ 680. Probably one, then you have to beg for the 2nd.

I think there are a lot of things afoot here, and it's not just the judging situation.

These may all be "first world" people issues, but generally speaking, car guys from all walks, want to do things and be involved with things that have to do with their passion(s) (mostly around type/brand etc.)

I believe we've eclipsed the tipping point, where the wealthy could/would gather to show their cars, have their cars judged, and network with all around great people. But now, this seems like a pretty poignant money grab where a homestead event has turned corporate, and now, those same people who were integral to the success and participation of this fine event, are tired of just forking it over with the consideration of 'oh, that crowd can afford it!'.

Seems it not much about the marque and cars anymore, but now an event that the monopoly man would shine at, but not many others...

    From the Luigi.O response:

Someone says that Cavallino is not a lifestyle event. It wasn't, indeed.
Our aim is exactly to make it ALSO an enjoyable event, financially sustainable, easy to understand also for the non-experts, more known in Europe and in the world, attractive for the younger generations.

Sounds like this has to do with making the event more profitable? Raise prices, drop extra judges? Less expenses to reimburse. More control?

    I'm glad about two things.

    1. I decided I was too busy to go this year, and

    2. I have fond memories of past Cavallinos of being able to wander around the field and talk to everybody, without buying a ticket, and then go have a martini at the bar.

Sadly, particularly when it comes to Ferraris, it seems fond memories are all that are left: Pebble Beach, Historic Challenge, Crystal Cove, and so on.

I'm assuming travel and lodging, they gave you two drink tickets and a box lunch??
    :D :D :D

    Are you "in" or "out"?
It seems you are what they are looking for.....non retail, and all....

This Gattling gun seems aimed at Sheehan and Bobilief, IMO,
Can't be but three or four more than even FIT that criteria.....????

    Welcome back...now be chill......:D :D :D

Sebring 12HR is getting my money, maybe Amelia Island......
Risi is at Daytona 24H, there's just "other thngs to do".....

I will say again Miami has gotten really dangerous, unless maybe in a rented Lambo.....
The speaker towers collapsed at RollingLoud....;)
    No one hurt thankfully......

Sheehan has never been an issue by anyones yardstick. Gary is not in that criteria by one not taking hallucinogens

Before being allowed to judge at Maranello for the 70th I had to jump through some hoops . Then they were focused on the restoration/service side. Now they have decided to focus on sellers...........that are not in their self described focus group. But for me there is still time.

Oh, wait, there's more. This email came in late this afternoon.

The gourmet Tour lunch may be sold out, but there's more to do - and

we can help you with any arrangements you might need.

If you're not into tortellini, one can get a nice filet mignon for 52 bucks across the street at the Flagler Steak House and save $628 bucks.
