cool pics. Was the Chch car owned by Mr.S? A school friend’s dad there had one. I also recall seeing a blue one pulling out of a house near Mt Pleasant and then later in sumner. Maybe the same.
Love this video, shame the car didn't find a buyer but its lovely in silver. The blue interior, although not my first choice, is pretty stunning.
Fun to drive is I guess a matter of perspective. In the near 20 years I (and over 20,000 miles) I've been the custodian of mine I can say it is now very fun to drive. However on first acquaintance it is an intimidating car which takes a lot more getting used to than even a 330GTC or 365GTC4. The heavy steering at low speeds can be an issue although mine has long had a power steering conversion (unit from a 400 not the EZ system). They also take a long time to warm up especially in the cooler climate where I live, and I suspect a lot of people who make negative comments may have only had a short drive when the car is not fully warmed up and it's still a little cranky (like me before my first cup of morning coffee). If you're willing to invest the time and miles to really learn the Daytona (and I think mine still has things that it can teach me) then the rewards are great, but I fully understand in this day and age that many do not have that the time for this.

I had wondered if you could get one of those magnetic engine and gearbox warmers that they have in very cold climates. Would mean the oil temperature starts in a warmer spot and comes up to temperature faster.
I've not tried a magnetic heater and it if its really cold here they also salt the roads which is a pretty big discouragement from using any older car. My garage is partially heated but if it is less than 12c ambient air temperature I've found having a small fan heater blow warm air under the car certainly helps, but even with that it takes 5-10 minutes sitting stationary holding the engine at 1500 rpm is needed to get the water up to temperature and another 20 minutes of low speed driving before the oil temperature needle even thinks about moving off the stop.
Well said. I sold my Daytona earlier this year and purchased a 365 GTC, for many of the same reasons that you mentioned. I loved the Daytona and it was quite a machine, but it was an event to go for a drive. In the first 3 months of GTC ownership, I’ve already exceeded the mileage that I put on my Daytona. Not bad but certainly not a genuine Comp Daytona. One of the many conversions done privately. Marcel Massini
I obviously love the Daytona, but I could not help but note that the car had to work its way up to an NC Miata, and that the modern super cars rocketed away from it. Decades of tech clearly make a difference...
I’m far from expert or experienced with track driving/racing, but to my untrained eye, seems the driver isn’t either, which might’ve contributed to lackluster performance more than technology.
Possibly, but based on the mix of vehicle types, it seems likely to me that very few on that track were experienced "hot shoes"...
Yeah, perhaps a “novice run group” ? Even I might’ve qualified. Looked like the “passenger” (in the Daytona) was possibly an instructor.
Since videos are the 'new pictures', I hope you don't mind me posting this. It was interesting to see some more modern styling finishes like blue stitching on the dash and the modern looking painted shields. Not sure about the colour either but overall I like it even if the purists don't.
A nice blue Daytona at Autoworld Brussels for the Supercars expo. Registered "O-5" in Belgium. What is the s/n ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
