I wonder if when all the manufacturers are producing electric cars if my gasoline gated car will be desirable or even drivable in 2040 and beyond?

Well it sure did not happen the other way..... some of the first cars were electric.... then ICE cars took over....no body cared about the electric cars.

but I think it will be different this time around..... (ff 100 yrs)...... but my knowledge of the future is limited to my reading reddit feed at 4AM.....

IMHO it says more about the quasi-knowledgeable (as in having the appearance, but not substance, of knowledge) nature of BaT's audience, who've been known to overpay for cars when there are comparable examples available from reputable sources for less. BaT is sui generis.

Anyone seen this one yet? Has a lot going against it (just like my car....) Euro import car means probably difficult to register in CA. Grigio Alloy is polarizing, I have always believed you pay less for that color on the used car market... I know I did. Even though I love the color now it definitely trades for less than a "resale red" car. Higher mileage at 39K on top of those two items will tell us what I believe will be the "lower end" of the market at this time.

    Thoughts?

In addition to the liabilities you mentioned, I believe that car also has a couple of incidents in its past. Of course, on BaT- which is clearly a seller's medium- that may go largely unnoticed, as that's not the most discerning audience.

This resale red 11k miles sold for $142,000. Had an "incident" that was about driving over something with no material damage.

Shortly after several gated 430 spiders sold for >$300,000

    https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/2006-ferrari-f430-spider/

Who knew they sold F-cars on Pcar market??? (I didn't!)

I was surprised the 11k mile car did not go between $150,000 and $200,000.

On the other hand, a blue with 44K mile and no reported incidents sold for $133,000.
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1999-ferrari-360-modena-21-3/

Seems to me that reported incidents are far more detrimental than color in resale value and that mileage is becoming less important than condition on > 20-year-old cars.

I wouldn't denigrate the BaT audience/buyers as much as I would some of the comments made on the auctions...

    67bmr- the data doesn’t lie.

people on the other hand… more flawed than data.

Love watching this break out happen during my lifetime…. While I have a little skin in the game…. I wonder how many commenters actually own a gated 360….

137K (with BaT fee) for a Euro market Modena with 39,000 miles speaks very well for the gated 360 market.

Looking back at recent bat fcar auction results - the gated modena is inc in sales price.

it used to trail behind TR, and 456, and 599.... and behind f1 430...... interesting shift. (no pun intended)

YES! It really does. That's definitely more than I expected for that Grigio Alloy car.

How did you know it was a euro market car, it had an American speedometer? Does that mean it was imported?

I think the description stated it was a Euro car.
You can check the BaT site for details

The description states that it was imported in 2000 and there was a bond release in 2-2001.
    Clearly a Euro import

The easiest way to tell a Euro car is the 8th digit in the VIN. B = Euro left hand drive. A North American car would have an A in the 8th spot. This one also had Celsius on the climate control. Imports normally have the speedo swapped out, but people rarely swap the climate control.

Interesting to see high prices for variants that were traditionally seen as lower value. The market has changed or prior value attributes were wrong.
