That is a nice car they have - I love the 599. the early cars are fun but I see its a young guys game... the 599 is Amazing, easy to live with ... it's expensive to be sure to fix, but they all are. and the power - OMG, the power is there any time you like. I have friends with an 812, and F12 and 488 ... this car keeps up with all of those ... it may be a fraction of a second behind... For a Super Car its about the most usable... the 812 - is amazing as well, but in reality you can never use all that power for long... the 599 included, but you can for an instant get close to full power ... in the 812 - no way... its just WAY too much.

as a keeper???? who knows I do like the 812 - and if 488's ever become affordable I'd like to have a mid engined Ferrari again... but I'm very happy with the 599.. Black is the right color or Silver or blue. much like all the front engine Ferraris' Red is not a great color nor Yellow or white.... in my opinion you need a very dark color -

Thank you for the input, I really appreciate it. One thing that sticks out on this particular car is a blemish on the Carfax.

Mmmmmm, I get it, Dale. I’m not entirely new to tracking, and will have an instructor with me at all times. This guy’s driven my car before at The FIRM with me in it, so I may let him try it just to witness the dynamics and take it from there. It is really a learning experience just to observe someone driving your own car on a track.

Sebring is a much higher speed track that’s brutal on brakes. I guess we’ll take it one step at a time.

The TC on my Maranello was cool. It only kicked in after about a 15 degree slip. Newer cars? I dunno. Look at the tires. That's a lot of rubber on the road. You have to getting on it pretty hard to break them loose. It's a lot more fun (and safer) to do this in a spec Miata.

I have poor self control. I used to say when 550's were new I could never own one. I could save a lot of money and just go down and hand over my license because that where will will end up. They were just far to easy to go far too fast. And compared to what we have now its pretty ho hum

On the fast car vs slow car thing there is no question to me. I need to be challenging the car and my driving to have fun. I can do it at 50 mph or 150 mph. One will get you tickets, maybe. One will get you jail. Going way back one of the cars I had the most fun in was the old Datsun 1200. All 100 (maybe) horsepower. The motor was small but very responsive, the car was light and very neutral and the slickest 4 speed the world has ever known. I could drive the living begeesus out of one and have the biggest smile on my face all for about $3.50 in gas.

I hear ya. I once owned a 330 GTC and 550 at the same time. As much as I loved driving the old banger, my hands mostly went for the 550 keys. There's a reason we're car guys. Having that power under your right foot is fun. But, a 550 was 500 hp (if you believed Ferrari's numbers, which nobody did). What is an 812? 700 hp. I can't trust myself having that much power. I know sooner or later, I'm going to use it.

We had one for a client we added a bunch of power to. I always said it needed a holograph projection of the Grim Reaper in the passenger seat.

I was giving someone a ride in it getting on an on ramp when some big time Kawasaki was going by, saw us and nailed it. I looked at the passenger and told him "that thing is almost the fastest thing on the road" then I nailed it. I passed that Kawasaki with about a 50 mph speed differential. I slowed down for my off ramp and the Kawasaki pulled up real close to me ad leaned down looking in my window and gave me a big thumbs up.

The biggest problem with modern supercars is there's no "earning" the speed and thus there is very little respect for the speed. This will only get worse as electric vehicles proliferate. It's a lot like tech and computers, things get easier the collective population gets dumber about how things actually work.

I love the sounds my FF makes, move covering miles in, love being in it, but (and yes, I just got it) I've really only driven it like a Camry other than things like heating up the brakes and getting the surface dust off the rotors because boy oh boy did it get up to speed quick and I don't need to go to jail.

Now my 300 whp mini cooper? I rev the nuts off that thing. Both experiences leave me speechless and happy as a clam to be able to have my toys

added MORE POWER to a 930? More power to the him/her.

I'm in my 30s, the 911 of my youth was the 996 so when I eventually decide I need another one it'll be a 2000 millennium edition with that fancy violet chromaflair paint. The best one I ever drove though? Absolutely a well sorted 964 3.6 Turbo, mein got what a fantastic machine.

Some cars just should not have that kind of power. Like a 427 Cobra. A power to weight ratio that can spoil a day real quick.

I remember my 1st drive in a 427 SC. I handed the keys back 45 minutes later and my hand was shaking. The owner who was a real automotive sociopath just smiled and looked at me and said "was it good for you". And the tires we drove those things on....sheesh.

They are wonderful machines. Only problem with them......more of them then the resources to buy them. We are just like kids in a candy store. We just see what we want next.

Another issue is with all the driving aids you feel like Schumacher then all the sudden their abilities are over and in that second you really need to be Schumacher.

At least in a 427 Cobra from the time you light it off you know quite clearly your life is in your hands.

Indeed. These things are more lethal than heroin. They just cost more than we can afford. If we could, we would be stacking bodies everywhere!, The Kremer K3 935 pulled 700hp and 700 pounds less weight. They were insane!

Yep! I'm not 18 anymore, I fully recognize that while I'm better than most drivers on the road, I am NOT a professional driver and that realization has killed any desire for me to drive like an *******. I'll speed sure, but I won't engage in ******* behaviors

There is such a thing as too much motor for a given car. Even a stock 930 at peak torque in 2nd will accelerate standing on the brakes with the fronts locked solid. . I found out once.

They are a handful. Tested my first at (all together now) "Holbert's". Freakin thing was better than sex! Only problem was the price tag. But once the TR is done, one is going to find its way into my garage. They are something every sports car lover should consider driving or owning. They are a religious experience! :D

I test drove a PortofinoM and a Roma back to back. My God, they have way too much power to enjoy on the street. They will run circles around my 360 but at least in my 360, I will be going to county lockup, not prison.
