Debating on selling this as I need to get a truck as a second car. Major service including belts, oil, filter, brake fluid, transmission service, injector cleaning, etc all done in the last 1k miles. Clutch was at 98% life when checked during that service and control arms were just replaced as well. Fabspeed headers, tubi muffler, CS mirrors (exotic CF remakes), Challenge grill, 19" CS wheels, Exotic carbon fiber GT shift paddles. Challenge stradale suspension specs and alignment. Wheels are powdercoated black. factory daytona seats and scuderia shields.

In full disclosure: There are some rock chips on the front bumper, and the window tint is bubbling on the driver window in one area. Other than that shows really nicely inside and out. The CEL is on for a misfire in cyl 8- leakdown and smoke tests have both been performed and do not show issues. Specialist shop believes it to be an issue with ECU. Clean autocheck, carfax shows a minor accident in 2005. Please message me with any interest.

    Where is this car located?

What would be defective with ECU to cause missfire/CEL? Estimated costs to repair/replace/reprogram ECU?

@JOEBMW the car is located in Upstate, SC. The ECU tells the whole motor what to do, so yes, it can cause misfires. My shop told me that they have done everything to check/repair for the misfire other than the ecu. They would send it out to an ECU repair facility that they use, and diagnose from there if it could be repaired or needed to be replaced. I do not have a firm number on a repair here but reached out to them this morning to see if they could give me a ballpark for both scenarios.

The easy way to check for the ECU being the cause of the misfires is to switch the position of left and right ECU units. If the switch causes the fault to go the other side of the engine, or go away, then yes, it's probably the ECU. If the problem remains in cylinder 8, then it's not the ECU.

Your technician should have already done this.

for those wondering- just spoke to my shop and it sounds like this would be between 2500-5000 to fix depending on if both ECU's were bad or just one.

Nice car. My favorite colour combo. well priced I always wonder why people cover their license plate on a for sale advertisement. Doesn't everyone see it while your driving down the street?

Honestly, I'd replace the offending ECU and adjust the price accordingly after. Since the misfire moved after swapping ECU's over, it is definitely faulty and will alleviate concerns by the buyer. This is a great drivers car and looks amazing.

I feel I've priced it well enough to give some lucky individual enough upside in the purchase. I am essentially just testing the waters, as I do not need to sell the car necessarily and If I don't have anyone pull the trigger in a fair amount of time, then I will probably fix and keep it.
